So, i've returned to the boards... for awhile, and in a diminished capacity from when i was here... but i'm back (pauses for huge aplause and cheering). But now that i'm back i have a slight favour to ask of a portion of the winamp community.
6 months ago i downloaded mIRC, at somepoint my love of numbers dragged me to the mIRCstats homepage. And there i found a wonderful little program, and i loved said program, but it had one minor flaw... it cost $15 (as it turned out the free version would have done fine), so i embarked on a mission, a mission to create a free irc stats program, that was about 4months ago. Today the program has reached a point where i need people other then myself to try the program and tell me whats wrong with it (i s'pose there could be somethings that are good about it too). So if i could be so imposing as to ask anyone with trillian logs to download spiffystats (the name of my program) and try it out, i'd be most apreciative.
An example page is available here (http://spiffed.ath.cx/ninjaworldstats.html)
the program installers are available here (http://spiffed.ath.cx/files/spiffystats.zip)
there is a known bug in the installer (bloody MS), on some machines it complains about not being able to find a temporary file, if this happens simply open the cab file within the zip and copy all the files to a directory on their own... it'll run aslong as you run the installer to the point it crashes. (my apologies to all for being a VERY non l33t VB coder).
thank you,
~spiffed
(and it feels good to be back)

sounds kick ass, although a $15 protection is easily avoided....by not buying it, of course, and writing your own :)
good work! let's port this to something faster, like delphi. pmsg me if you want to do it.

ok lets see what we can do about that. hmmm.
we can get rid of the hdb and hdc and the carriage return, the first two lines and now we are down to seven lines (had to take my sig to 24-Hour Fitness.) that cool now

Signature Size
- To keep the page loading time, and visual annoyance factor down to a minumum, please keep your graphical sigs to a 12,500 pixel max or 15k file size, whichever is reached first. Alternatively, three lines of text can be used as a signature. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined such that it does not wrap when viewed at a resolution of 1024x768.
If these limits are exceeded then you may be contacted by a moderator requesting an amendmant to your signature. If none is made within a reasonable period of time, then a moderator may remove your signature from your profile.
i was just giving you a heads up.

of course, you always could just make the text size 1...

I've got 80mb of #******* logs and i can't see a way to select multiple logs. (Each day has it's own file)
Aside from that it could be good. Of course i'll suggest the obvious, more big numbers, stats and more configuring of stats rather than just a button.
But still, looking good.

yes matt, i know you can't select more then one log.. it's a small bug.. my usual advice to that (to the one other person who's asked) is to fire up linux and cat them togeather... i didn't even this was a problem untill a few days ago.. give me a weekend and it'll work.

ok, so it DID take a weekend.. or atleast 50min to make happen and then a whole weekend to get around to posting (a wedding and 5hr _each_way_ road trip happened in the middle)
so with only some minor fixes, and multilog support, i offer it back to the community
current feature set:
supports multiple log files
manual Nick name linking
illian Support
w3c cerified HTMl and CSS
faster parsing then mIRC stats*
new slimmed down distributionIn light of the recent cutbacks on my bandwidth the new distobution is free of the clumsy MS installer... oneday i'll learn NSIS and replace it, in the mean time, just expand it to a folder
for those of you who actually wish to download the program, it's included in a zip file (http://spiffed.ath.cx/files/spiffystats.zip) (about 70kb)
if you require the VB runtimes: go find them, i can't be arsed, i know pab links to them at http://pawsoft.co.uk (check out the forums while your over there)
operating the multilog function can take abit of skill (not really), but i'm sure you can figure it out on your own
*based on results from 30 and 3mb log files, from channels with both a fixed set of users, and from "open" channels with a constant influx of users
. - .... .- -. ....

irc scares me. the freedom the power. the viruses from mIRC. the ineptness of my irc knowledge. the irc trojans lurking (bots if you will). when i get a cheap PC ill take a look at IRC and a look at your log proggy. ive downloaded it into my program downloads folder and renamed it to irc_loger_from_winamp_forums_by_spiffystats.zip
nice looking statistics output :)
