Hi folks,
dunno if this has been answered yet, tried to find an answer but really found nothing. so...
Is there a way to let the server convert one stream to lower quality, and output it directly on another steam?
regards,
quakenul

You can't do that with shoutcast yet...... However IceCast allows re-encoding to another shoutcast server.

Maybe it will be in the next version of shoutcast if we are lucky :)

This is exactly what I have done with my stream. I use the DSP Stacker 1.6, with three plug-ins: RockSteady (a compressor/limitor), then two copies of the SHOUTcast Source plug-in. The top one, streams to my 'Hi-B/W' server, then the stream falls through to the next copy of the Source plug, which down-samples and streams to my 'Lo-B/W' server.

This also works nicely with live voice streaming as well. I use the talk controls for the 'higher' DSP and the stream - voice and music - simply fall through to the 'lower' DSP.
