In my opinion DeviantArt is the way to go. http://www.deviantart.com for the main site and http://www.deviantart.com/thumbnails.php?section=avs for the AVS section.

devart is t3h sh1t!
Personally when i joined devart was the time my avs "career" went skyrocketing up! up! up! Everything i am today (the 70k gen x download for starters) Is because of the great community at devart. They really make me feel home...
