Considering Winamp already has VP3 as the default codec, will another On2 codec be installed? I heard AOL is looking to dump RealNetworks. It makes sense to have Winamp be the primary media player for the AOL ISP.

Maybe. But VP3 is open source, and the basis for NSV. So I doubt that there will be converters for other ones unless On2 makes them.

I recently had AOL high speed as my ISP, and Realvideo 8 is the compression technology used. VP3 is much better especially at lower bit-rates around 300-500 kbps. The samples in the Winamp video section are of top notch quality. Video would look even better with VP4, VP5, or the to be released VP6.

With on2 "AKA the Duck corp" just about out of cash you can bet aol will eat this company up and give it an AOLTW branding. Stock is at .10 cents how cheap can it get? If On2 goes under what would happen with NSV? And when will NSV work with OGG?

Well, since the vp3 codec is already open sourced, and the Xiph.org people negotiated a perpetual open source license, I believe that the vp3 technology could continue to evolve. Dunno about vp4/5/6 though.
From the Ogg Theora Project: (http://www.theora.org/theorafaq.html)Q: Isn't vp3 a patented technology?
A: Yes, some portions of the vp3 codec are covered by patents. However, the Xiph.org Foundation has negotiated an irrevocable free license to the vp3 codec for any purpose imaginable on behalf of the public. It is legal to use vp3 in any way you see fit (unless, of course, you're doing something illegal with it in your particular jurisdiction). You are free to download vp3, use it free of charge, implement it in a for-sale product, implement it in a free product, make changes to the source and distribute those changes, or print the source code out and wallpaper your spare room with it. For more information, check the VP3 Legal Terms on the CVS page.
