Itz out. Just DLed it for those who care. "100's of new features!" Seems most are cosmetic, but the new look is slick. Can pick ur own Welcome Screen and Backgrounds, toolbar colour scheme, ect. Gotz this lil' companion thing that is kinda nifty. Will find a DL link and post it.
Only avaliable to subscribers at this point. Read all about it here (http://news.com.com/2100-1023-961541.html).

I dont think many people will care since AOL is one of the least reliable ISPs IHMO ever. Its only used by tons of people because its "easy" to use.

AOL? LOL!
The only good thing about AOL is that they started sending me those free signup discs that I use as coasters in the mail so now I don't have to pick them up at walmart anymore.

Yea, I will agree that AOL is not quite the best ISP around, but luckily I have cable, and don't have to use it to surf. The only reason we have is because my parents didn't want to change their E-mail address. My mom in particular. 2 of my sisters have PKU, a genetic disease which basicly makes it impossible for them to digest protein (in very simple terms). They can't have a lot of normal food (meat, cheese, ect.) or they will become brain damaged. My mom is signed up with about (literally) 25 different newsgroups that send eachother recipies of special food that can me made for them. It's easier to jsut keep the AOL name @ the lower price (since we don't use their modems). Not that you all really care about all that, just thought I would explain why we even have AOL installed here, so that I wouldn't get ripped on for the next few weeks.

I can imagine that - neo would flame anyone that phoned up, as only newbies used AOL, and by definition newbies have a smaller post count, and therefore need flaming!

i laugh at people who have aol as their dail up service provider. when everything they get can be gotten from free (i love you nocharge.com) to a meer 14.95 a month dail up.
honestly some people are really ignorant. it makes me sad. its not like aol has a monopoly over internet access..

I found that once I was connected, AOL was quite fast.
Connecting was the biggest bitch of them all...
Lets hope that AOL 8.0 is enough to save their asses.
I wouldn't want to see an end to Winamp...

True, whenever I go to Fred Meyer, I see free Aol discs, it saves me time now that they send them to my house. I get at least 1 per month.
Aol discs are great frisbees.

Something that I get tired of is all the AOL basing that goes on. Ya know what? It has to be at leat a decent peice of software otherwise the company wouldn't have grown so large. I don't like WA3, but I don't bitch about it everychance I get. I don't like sonique, and I don't bitch about that. If I don't like it, I just choose to not use it. IMO AOL is a great internet provider (at least in my area). For those who us who are only passive internet users, AOL is great. It does have tons of options and extras, and the tech support is #1 In my opinion. I understand that yes it may be large, and it may not have the best speed out there, but as far as stability, when I used AOL it never crashed once. I will admit to dropping AOL as MY choice (not my families) due to the fact that we have cable now, but none-the-less, as far as an easy to use program for people who arn't too computer savvy, AOL is #1 in my mind.
Ok now y'alls turn to flame me for defending AOL

AOL provides a necessary service to the community. I wouldn't be so quick to denounce them.

IMHO AOL is an online service first and an internet provider second. Back before the internet was available to the public, AOL was called an online service. Its basic platform hasn't changed all that much over the years. The only difference is the service now allows users to access the internet as well as the AOL content. AOL caters to lazy computer newbs just like it always has. I remember back in the DOS days when Windows 3.1 was thought to be the bomb and the hardcore DOS users dismissed Windows as garbage, which it was. AOL was treated with the same attitude back then. I remember the days when AOL charged usage rates for just about everything they offered on their service. That was back when BBS's were it. Damn I miss those days. I still have the same feelings about AOL as I did back then. AOL is for people who want an easy way to get on the internet. I think they're missing out on so much more. Did you see that recent commercial for AOL broadband? Where they said you can play games and show this cheesy 2D car game. It's more evidence that AOL's target audience is the lazy or newb computer user who thinks card games and MIDI's are the in thing. People are so clueless.

I don't think AOL users are lazy, I think that they (we) are just average joe's who just use the internet for fun. They could go broadband, or with a diff provider, but AOl is just fine for what it gets used for. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

AOL reminds me of those kind of people that like to forward jokes and stupid chain letters to you via e-mail. Those are the kinds of people I picture using AOL. :blah: It's obvious they cater to a certain group of people that don't have a clue as to what their computer can do. Seems such a shame. I guess it's easy to think that way if you've been using computers since the trash-80 and like to get the most out of them. To each their own I guess, I just wanted to give my own observations.

If your thinking about going broadband and want something easy just use Roadrunner. Why go for the monster ISP? You talk about easy to use? You click on internet explorer and your on the internet. LOL Are these AOL users fucking stupid? I think the tech guys who install everything for you even help you setup your mail. Most of my friends who don't really know much about computers don't have AOL and have no problem. Next time AOL sends me a CD I'm gonna send it back with Fuck You written on it. AOL makes the internet seem harder than it is.

Look, this guy has explained why he uses AOL, what's with all the "use this ISP instead!" posts?
The mass-marketing is a tad excessive, though.
