This is my chair i built in applied technology, it won first prize out of about 50 chairs at my school. i love it so much, its really comfy and as you can see, has the looks :D

more info on the chair ;)

- took me about 6 months of work @ 45 minutes a day
- its a huge chair, compare it to the couch behind it, you head makes it to the 6th 'rib'
- all curves were bent using ply wood glued together over a template curve, it was then placed in a suction bag which sucked the ply down over the template

It looks like it would be very comfortable.
I think your ideas would translate well to automotive seating.
For some reason the side view made me think of the movie ALIEN.
