I am running winamp on my laptop, pentium iii at 900 MH, 256 MB memory, and windows 98.
I like to use directsound out because it enables me to remove silence at the beginning and end of a track and i have direcx 8.1 installed.
but my winamp2.81 freezes from time to time. and once it freezes, i had to kill it and reboot the system. but after rebooting, winamp2.81 still freezes as soon as i tried to play a song.
so i switched to winamp3. but as soon as i played a song, it tells me that directsound executed an illegal operation. then i killed winamp3 and started winamp2 and changed it to use waveout. everything is working fine now.
what's the problem?
