Right now I have my laptop sitting on top of my living room stereo.
It connects via WiFi to my tower with a hard drive full of .Mp3 files.
Files flow over the WiFi to Winamp on my laptop which is plugged into the Aux jack of my living room stereo.
This way I can listen to my Mp3s around the house without having to move my tower all over the house.

Problem is I don't like having my laptop tethered to my stereo and I don't like having sitting around like a piece of furniture.

Is there a device(copyright by me pending)that consists of a wireless network card and memory and a winamp like application and a soundcard?

This seems like a simple combination of components that would be quite small and do just what my big ole laptop is doing right now.

Turtle Beach makes a deck component, the name of which I forget. It uses a wired LAN to stream audio from a server (mp3's, shoutcast stream, whatever), and plays it on your stereo.

Devices that play MP3's off a LAN that look like home stereo equipment and have their own remote are becoming more and more common. Go down to your local Radio Shack and ask around.

Really I'm thinking of something more "palm" sized.
An entire component for $300 seems like a little much for what were talking about here.
