well the cost of the computer without the upgrades is €2,116 and with the upgrades i'd want it's well over the €3,000 mark. so i priced all the upgrades seperatly and it worked out the very same even a bit more, so i'd of taught that to build my own would be dearer and with a-lot of heartache.:( i'm living in the wrong country the cost of everything is a bit steep, especially the broadband.
In Santiago, Chile it costs €37 a month for a 256k line.
In Curitiba, Brazil it costs €63 a month for a 1Mb line.
In Estonia, it costs €37 a month for a 512k/128k line.
In Ireland, it costs €110 a month for a 512k/128k line.

On the otherhand, you don't have to deal with military juntas, living under the shadow of a 38m tall Jesus statue, or living in a country nobody's heard of.

Dell's are for those people who hate to get off their asses to make something, and for the people who know shit about computers.

holy shit, just checked the prices of a dell dimension 8250 from that site compared with the dell.ie (ireland) site, and with the exchange rate of €1.00 = $1.01c, the dell 8250 is $3158 from pcworld and with the very same spec it's €4733.50c from dell.ie. [squell talk]i think i'm being f**ked up the anus [/squell talk]:D

Don't forget shipping, and what would amount to a very hefty import tax bill. Sales tax is probably also considerably higher in Ireland than in the States, considering that it's an EU member state.

Dells are ok, sometimes. They'll never come close to the performance of a custom built system for a given price point though.
