I think that some people have got winamp3 running using WINE, but i wouldn't be knowing about that stuff.

I tried wine'ing WA2, and I got the window to display but it was all frozen...I couldn't even get it to close. I have since returned to using Win XP.
Though if you're hell bent on linux, listen to the advice about xmms, it's a pretty good substitute, and supports plug-ins and everything.

Up till now, I have been using XMMS. If you know how to make WA2 work under wine, please post it. All I get is fixme:msvcrt:_XcptFilter (0,0x4069fc14)semi-stub
wine client error:0x80728a8: partial write 64

I had winamp semi working a while ago in wine, but I can't remember what I had to do to get it to work.

Don't worry about it I guess. I could try a few things, like copying a crap load of dll's over and try running them native, but for now, XMMS is really all right.

actually, that isn't necessary... it has something to do with the way that winamp renders itself.

the "win" in winamp has nothing to do with the OS. (supposedly)
