View Full Version : Are stereotypical fat nerds reality?

I thought it was about time we found out wether or not the stereo typical "fat computer nerd" was a true image of todays computer nerds. Lets face it as we are all reading messages on a forum about a media player people who don't spend half their day on the computer know about I think it's almost definate we are nerds - sorry to break it to you if you didn't already know... So this is the best place to ask the question. Hopefully some interesting results will be shown in a few days.

Define "nerd"

dirkdeftly
30th January 2003, 20:19
Bilbo: Me.

I am a case in point of the stereotypical fat computer nerd...14 at 280 lbs, and spend most of my day on the computer playing nintendo ROMs.

I'm almost a wannabe!

1 stone is equal to 14 lbs, so:
13x14=182

Oh yeah, the reason I hit reply:
5'11"/150lbs = Skinnier than a beanpole.

i really don't consider myself a nerd. dork, maybe, but once you get out of high school, aie93, most of those immature stereotypes don't apply anymore. show me a jock that's out of school and working for a living. i challenge you to differentiate between a 25 year old jock and a 25 year old nerd. no one cares what you wear, eat, listen to, or do after high school. hey guess what, even high school "nerds" have no problem getting laid in the real world! it's exciting!

I'm 5'8" and 110 lbs. Heck, I dont really even spend too much time on my computer anyways to be classified as a nerd. I do have a hobby of programming in a certain database and scripting language(not to derail the thread), though and I've spent a lot of time working on a few websites.
During school dances.
At home with the TV on in the background.
Give me a hug.. :(

I'd like to be skinnier, but maybe that's bad. 5'6", 120lb here.

I'd like to be skinnier too, 6' 200lbs. meh. I think the excess weight comes with the lifestyle (and sluggish metabolism).

5'7" (although because of my back problem, i should really be an inch or two taller, so you might wanna take that into account), and 126lbs-ish

real nerds don't have time for food. they're too busy playing illegal downloads of certain games that come out in a week or so. but i say too much!

Same height and close weight. :) I know, I'm not that fat where it's causing health problems...I may try to lose a few this summer, or the next semester, whichever comes first.
