please tell me that it's normal animation and not anime...
zootm
7th February 2003, 16:39
everything's called anime these days. it's more reminiscent of western animation, in the main.

fuck the matrix. the first one was revolutionary and new, the news ones will be just be more of the same, tired, used, bullshit bullet time that everyone and their dog has used.

The matrix isn't just about the new stuff that they used, though. Plus, with the creative people making the matrix, there is bound to be some sweet new effects.

That's what cable or dsl is for bilbo. Come on!! I'm downloading it right now. It's taking even a long time on cable.

Okay so maybe the bullet time has become a cliche for most action movies, but they've reinvented it in the new one. I still think they are at least somewhat revolutionary with the new one with their new FX techniques.

Downloading now. Will post my thoughts. Can't wait for the second and tird movies and all the Animatrix movies! :D
[edit]
Aw man that was really cool. Now I'm so excited to see where it goes from there in the Animatrix series. I'm definetly going to just buy the DVD's instead of downloading what they put up on the site, since that quicktime quality sucks. It was distracting how ugly the compression was and is for quicktime movies. Divx is soooo much better. And even when Divx does show much of it's compression artifacts, they aren't near as annoying as the artifacts in quicktime. Ah whatever.

I just finished watching it. It looks awesome. Can't wait for the real thing.

Eh.
I guess I'm just not as excited about a cartoon/animation. It doesn't look bad... maybe I'm just hungry for action :) Interesting to see the background on the plot though.

That's what the point of this is. It's not to wow you with the graphics, it's just to show the basic effects/dialogue/etc. in the actual movie.
MetallichicA
8th February 2003, 00:08
I didn't expect graphics though... but more than what was there. I dunno. Maybe it's just the bad quality of the file... it just doesn't look very well done to me. But I'm picky.

The main use of these things is to help the actors see what they are doing and serve as a template for the actual movies. It is real nice that they are releasing some of them online.

i got me 1000kb/sec new connection, yeaaaah.
i still dont wanna get it though. Ill watch it when it comes out but there better be some new revolutionary shit going on it, like LM says, if its just a bunch of ideas from the first one with some nice shiny new effects it will suck so bad it will..... well suck bad.. too early in the morning for this

It is going to go back and show some of the battle between humans and robots when the robots took over(this is what the animatrix clip is about). Then the movie will jump to about where the first movie ended.
Raz
8th February 2003, 05:53
meh, the storylines gonna be on the same lines then, "great"
anubis2003
8th February 2003, 05:55
It's based on the same story, but it is just going to give a brief history and then move on into the humans taking back the earth and restoring their supremecy over the robots. The first one was only about finding the one.

maybe i came across wrong, nothing to do with your last post anubis, just looked at mine, looks like i think it wont be a good movie,
anubis2003
8th February 2003, 06:02
So you think it will be good? I think it will be better than the first.
Raz
8th February 2003, 06:05
i think it will be good but i dont think it will be better than the first, the first was an original idea and an original story.
anubis2003
8th February 2003, 06:07
That's like saying that the Return of the King will be worse than the Fellowship of the Ring because it is the same idea and story.

Bullet time really has not been used all that extensively, and when it is used, it isn't used as well as it is in the Matrix. The first use of that technique was actually in a credit card commercial...all though there was no movement, the comercial went through the picture as though everyone had been frozen.

The second and third movies are still the same original idea and story. The story wasn't finished in the first movie. All three movies make up one story. To say the next to movies will be bad or not as good as the first is judging a book by it's cover (actually it's worse than that).
