View Full Version : Question?

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of this Winamp 2 wishlist. Are there going to be anymore improvements to WA2 if all efforts and improvements are already going into WA3?

The "jump to" or search feature of WA2 works fine, but I think a huge oversight exists by not having a "QUE NEXT" option. I don't want to loose my place in the "currently playing" playlist, and if a song is requested that is located somewhere down the playlist, I'd really like to be able to "jump to" it and (move) it up to "que next", and not just have it interrupt the show and play from it's downlist location.

In other words, when I "jump to" a song, I'd rather have it "que next". This would be so AWSOME, and is about the only complaint I have with this great player.

I understand that WA3 has some sort of ability to "place after current playing item". It seem's that a lot of (important) great playlist ideas have gone into WA3, but I, (appearantly) like alot of other people, don't like WA3 for various reasons. (mine is poor crossfader reasons...).

Since the "que next" option is appearantly available in WA3, should I assume it will not ever be considered for WA2, and I shouldn't be "wishing" for it?

"Repeat playlist" is (according to post) being added to WA2, even though it already exists in WA3. The "remove dup's" is also another great idea. Any chance it could make it to WA2?

There are no plugins (that I'm aware of, and I've tried many), that will do exactly what I'm requesting, although "Wincue" is working on something similar.

I hope I've posted in the correct place for this discussion. The "que next" option is my biggest request, but I'll let it go if no further developement is going into WA2.

Thank you for your time.

Signed, Hopeful?

I've obviously done or asked something wrong since my questions are now being ignored. Either that, or the "no reply" was the answer...

I just wanted to know if developement for WA2 is still ongoing and "wishes" are still being considered?

Yes, development of WA2 is still ongoing, very actively in fact, so yes, the wishlist still has some merit and use.

Can't say more than that, but yes, WA2 isn't going to die off anytime soon :)

Thank you very much for your reply. I hope a "que next" from the search results option will be considered for future WA2 releases...

Thank you again.

I second the queue next option, or, In my case a "jump down to a file" in the playlist that meets a particular criteria, and I need it to be triggered by a time cue, cos we have a radio station that has a promo that plays on the top of the hour and we want the playlist to jump down to that promo on the top of the hour or as close to, after the top of the hour passes. We actually have 33 promo's which are meant to play at, or just after the top of the hour but they all start with the same first few digits or letters eg "Top of Hour 01, Top of hour 02,) if you get my drift... I've yet to manage to make an hour long playlist that is exactly 60:00:00 and I don't think I ever will unless it's by accident, as we use the SQRSoft crossfader and you can understand why... Chris

jus drag and drop that song to right below the song that is playing, then take shuffle off ;)
