Winamp 2.9 launches today, with a new Media Library included in the Standard and Full versions. The Media Library includes the new Internet Radio and Internet TV functions, both of which are powered by SHOUTcast and will by default return the top 500 listened-to clusters on either directory service.

Now would be an excellent time for those of you looking to start video services to get notoriety like DIs by being an early adopter. Providing an Nullsoft Video (NSV) stream via SHOUTcast and NSVENC is significantly more difficult than an audio stream, but can be done. Since there's only 5 servers in existence at this moment, you'd do well to start one ASAP.

For some hints at getting started with NSV, visit the new NSV stream (a subsection of the SHOUTcast forums) at
http://forums.winamp.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=152

In particular, this thread will be useful for getting a live stream going from a video capture board, webcam, or firewire DV cam:

Once your stream is live, if you have chosen it to be public it will begin to appear in users' media libraries within 2 minutes.

There is currently no SHOUTcast-specific vehicle for distributing NSV files themselves. HTTP (web) servers will work just fine for that purpose.

GOOD HUNTING.

That is freaking awesome dude. I will have to download Winamp 2.9 today.

P.S. Thanks for the info on Streaming Video with NSV (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=117781) using Firewire, darkstar really needed to know that, why is it not pinned?
