My first real attempt at a website

hey yall, just made a website my first attempt to make a good one, and i was wondering what yall thought about it.

Not bad at all for a first try.

The nav bar looks pretty cool, but IMO it would be better if the links were graphics instead of text. Some nice graphics dividing up the page would help, the main content area is a little bland.

BTW, i noticed you like cradle of filth. :up:

anyway, i still have to tweak the site, but as for the graphics, i think i know what im gonna do

the bar is going to be edited to have the links as maps, but i just wanted something simple and easy for right now...

b) nice site design, especially for a first effort. how'd you figure out the tables in dw? they're a bit tricky at first! the site DOES need a little bit more color, imo, to balance the black out. and what's that spyware install notice i got when it loaded? that's gotta go ;)

Try www.brinkster.com

You'll get a subdomain, 30mb of disk space, 16mb per day of bandwidth (plenty for an average site that doesnt offer stuff for download) and i think you get cgi as well. I used them before i switched to paid hosting and they were pretty good.

trigear, ive tried tables, but i cant get em working, i dont have the experience or knowlege to make a table based page that i dont have to reload.

yeah, ill update that when i get back to my house, The site, i like it being simple and easy, the 2 colors are exactly what i want.

Im gonna add my page of poems to the page, as soon as i write some. ive got a couple, but i havent copied to them over to my site.

what i want to get is an understanding of Flash so i can have a bitchin neato site. thatd be sweet. i just dont know how to use it. ill have to ask my friend who is a "flash god"

the bar between the frames, shouldnt be white, it should be black. ill look into why its not. also, id love to be able get a CGI or perl forum, but im not sure if neko has the right server to allow me to install one. ill have to ask him about it.

anyway, im gonna be having some updates when i can find time to do them.

also, question, i want to have only a couple cells to be outlined in the tables that i use, it'd be basically to make it look more... organized, being that the borders would be connected to the lines. but i dont think it would work. ill have to see if i can figure it out.

To have individial cells bordered, simply insert a 100%x100% table inside the chosen cell, give it a bgcolor the same as your border/line colour and a cellpadding (or cellspacing) of 1, then insert another 100%x100%table inside that one, and make this one's bgcolor black.
