I have been looking around the forums for a couple days now and I've decided I want to get "into" making my own station. I'm talking very little.. Is it possible to do this free? I've been searching for a free server that I can use but I'm not having very good luck. Someone mentioned Live365 was free but when I went there all the options cost money. Any info or tips on how to get started would be greatly aprecciated! =)

use your own connection, if it is fast enough.

try and get a group of people or friends together to act as relays.

Eh... I'm on dial-up.. Not by choice tho. I live in the country and dsl and cable are not available. Sattalite is to costly. I dont suppose dial-up is good enough? I just want a station that I can give to my friends and maybe a couple strangers can tune into.. Maybe like 10 person capacity... How would I go about using my own connection if its possible in my case? Thanks!

Oh yea - btw I'm not too concerned with quality, I know I'm gonna have to go with 24kps

With dial-up, you might be able to push out a 1 user 24kbps 22kHz mono stream.

Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled:
1. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> DSLReports Bandwidth tester(Only be concerned with the UPLOAD bandwidth)
2. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Listener Calculator
3. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Bandwidth Calculator

Use 1 to find your upload.
Use 2 to determine the number of listeners you can support at your selected streaming bitrate.

Jay (KXRM) also has a Bandwidth Calculator (http://www.radiotoolbox.com/online_tools/bandwidth.php).

If you don't like the results, then try third party DNAS hosting (http://www.radiotoolbox.com/hosts/)
