Well,
this summer is going to see my return to skinning (I promise). Those of you from many aeons ago may remember me and some of you new guys would have seen me a few months ago when i decided to come back for a week or so.

Also, my favourite band are making a return this summer so i thought, why not make a winamp skin for them? thus the idea for GrandaddyAmp came about. Well ihave been tinkering for a few days and came up with this
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.sheldrick/allyourbasearebelongtograndaddy.jpg
I know, its nothing special, but what did you expect? i havn't made a skin for over a year!

Anyway, it tries to look like their official website www.grandaddylandscape.com with the polka dots and the strange color combinations and cool(IMO) art.
They are not a greatly known band but some of you may have heard their new song "now its on" on the radio.

So tell me what you think. Suggestions? improvements? etc.

Thanks!

PUKKABOY!!!!!

Love to see you back on this side of the forums. :x

About he skin, I think it represents the site clearly, though i think the windows need a bit of a border.

Well I remember that sig, that's for sure! My only comments about the skin would be that there is too much of a contrast between sharp edges and curvy edges. (I know, I know, whoever said this to me about my new website design, you win! lol)

how about a clean Black 1px border around each window? I think that would look nice. As for contrast between curved edges and sharp edges, do you mean that the curves are too curvey and the sharp edges... well can't do much about those...

thanks for the comments guys :) keep em coming.

Yeah, a border, though I was thinking mroe along the lines of a white border.

I don't think the curves are too curvey. I think really most of it is alright. The playlist just seems a bit devoid of curves really. Perhaps you could make the middle centre bit (the song list) curvey around the edges instead of so squared off. Love the colours and the polka dots.

i am gonna do that thing with making the playlist curvey on the bottom and to some extent on the top. Also, it will have a drop shadow like the other curvey white bits. The black border looks fine but the white border doesn't really look great, but i havn't tried it on the actual skin yet so i'll try that first to see.... i'll post a new pic eventually.

I like it

I like the simplicity and calmness of it, and the 3 'clouds' that envelop the eq-bars and vis/numbers/text look great. Some criticism:

- I think the style of the cbuttons don't match with style of the rest

-I like the solidness of the "random" and "rep", it goes with the simple, spacious, nature of the graphics. I think I'd prefer to see this sort of solidness in the rest of the components (eg. on/auto/presets/pl stacks/window titles...)

-I'd change the text.bmp

-the ML isn't going to be very pressable - or is the duck's head the pressable part?

thanks guys. :)
as far as Cbuttons go, this is what i'm sticking with. they use these buttons on the site, and thats what i'm trying to capture.

I did what db said about the solidness of the shufrep buttons, so i continued that with the rest of the skin.

i changed the text.bmp to a slightly more random font. its still pretty readable though.

I made the playlist bit another "cloud".
I'm going to experiment with borders later.

Thanks for the input guys, its really helping!
