i've been trying to put a band together for over six months now. and still have only a bassist, this is because of my lazy as hell guitar player who won't get off his ass to help me with anything. now he's gone and quit playing, leaving me stranded. fine piece of work he is:hang:
anyway, what should i do here? should i give up, or continue and find other players (scarce as they are)?

NEVER give up if music is what you love!
If you do, one day you'll look back,
and kick yourself in the ass.
Maybe you need to just go to the local music store,
put up an add on the bulliten board,
or place an add in the paper.
You might find guitar players coming out of the woodwork.
Then audition each one till you find the right one.
There's always a guitar player out there ready to jam.

papadoc: do you always write in open verse? it's cool, like shakespeare meets the internet...
EndurA: don't give up - it's worth persevering, even if you're never any good (trust me!). guitarists aren't impossible to find - try putting out an ad in a local paper, or ask your friends if they know anyone. there's loads of people who sit and play guitar in their bedrooms and never dream of being in a band - but if you ask, they might be up for it...
I play guitar... but no where near good enough to play in a band, unless all I played was punk and power chords (one in the same).
That damn finger picking, pisses me off soo damned much, and that and all the chord changes in Stairway to Heaven.

not true. punk music has some of the best musicians in the field of rock.
find some people who are of a similar level of experience as you, and start a band - you learn a lot faster when you're playing with others... playing an instrument, like so many things, becomes a lot more fun with more people...
