View Full Version : Sound Mute Problem

Here's the problem I've been experiencing:

Everything runs smoothly for a few minutes, and then the sound suddenly stops. The mp3 pauses without any error message, and the play/pause/so forth buttons will not respond. If I close Winamp and try to start it up again, system will think for a moment, and then nothing will happen, Winamp will -not- start up without any error messages telling me what has happened. Keeping Winamp on, I am unable to load a new mp3, get the current one to start up again, and again, no error messages are popping up to tell me what is going on. All this happens with MilkDrop working perfectly - the visuals can keep running as if nothing has happened, only without any sound to guide it. The only way I've found so far to get Winamp's sound working again after this is restarting it. This has happened every time I have tried MilkDrop, and it tends to take 1-6 minutes for the crash to occur.

I have tried reinstalling MilkDrop, Winamp, DirectX, toying with the frame rate max, resolution, toying with 3dfx and sound card drivers (not deeply, for I am not familiar enough with the settings to trust myself in changing a lot), and the problem is still present.

Additionally, after this problem sets in, I have found that playing MP3s through other programs works just fine.

Has anyone dealt with this before, and/or knows what I should do to correct this?

ummh does this only happen when you run MilkDrop?

What are you system specs?

Yeah, happens only when running MilkDrop. We're on a box with a Creative Audigy 2 Platinum sound card and ASUS V9520 video card, and 1.9 Ghz processor.
