I'm always up for new ideas (despite having 200 albums on my 'want list').

Kings of Convenience - Sing Softly to Me
If the sun is shining (I guess that's everywhere except the east coast of the USA), this is a great summer track. Sweet guitars & vocals. Very well put together.

i wasn't sure where to post this...

but the one song that never fails to bring me to my knees is Taps, especially when played by "echo" bulglers (spell check) or with the bag pipes. that is a very emtionally intense song.

Your standard nu-metal issue (with a slight twist). Nice guitars, throttling pace, but I can't get past the throat-blistered vocals (I presume by a well-tattooed dude the size of an ape).

Thanks zootm, I'll stick with the wall of noise with some audible vocals (Curve - Coast Is Clear, or Six By Seven - My Life is an Accident).

I may listen to midi surf 1 more time before zapping it.

the reason the vocals are inaudible is that they're in japanese. the only english part is "i'm stoked this fine day". i wouldn't dismiss mad capsule markets so quickly, they're not really a nu-metal band at all... they seem to have picked up influences from many, many kinds of music, and have a very diverse sound. that was a kinda nu-metally song, though.

thought up some new ones:

Shakespeare's Sister "Stay" and "The Trouble with Andre"
The Cult "Edie" and "She Sells Sactuary"
and an oldie, Dusty Springfield "Son of a Preacher Man" that songs rules, too bad Dr. Pepper ruined it with a commercial.

The World In My Eyes cover was pretty much the only reason I bought the DM Tribute album. The version of 'Never Let Me Down Again' by the Smashing Pumpkins was surprising, very good. But I never listen to that album by now, in fact, I don't like it too much when The Cure cover other bands.

A very strange album, Babyteeth. One of my favourites of '92. Is it a parody of heavy metal or just a totally original album??? I could never decide which. I was half expecting the drummer to explode at some point.

Are Therapy? still active zootm??? Haven't heard of them for ages.

zootm
9th August 2003, 20:18
yep, they have just released a new album "High Anxiety" - it's very pure, very "rock". and the first track is called "hey satan - you rock!", which gains them endless cred points :)

one of their more recent albums worth checking out is "suicide pact - you first", which was a bit of a departure from their norm (which is strange, considering how diverse their work was before it), but the whole album is beautifully written, and a joy to listen to, for me at least.

check their official site for more: therapyquestionmark.co.uk (http://www.therapyquestionmark.co.uk) - it has video and audio samples of most of their stuff...

spot the fanboy.

A good way to open any album. The same sample's also used by Pop Will Eat Itself on (wait for it) Wake Up... Time to Die!

Loser Cop has to be my favourite, 'you little punk'...... 'asshole'! It's a real gem. I will check out those albums, at the moment I'm on Richard Cheese. Wonder where that came from?
