There is a Civ- related thread out there, so I thought it would be a good idea to have an Age of Empires thread for all real-time strategy games (C&C, RA2, AOE, AOEII)

I recently got a copy of RA2 from a friend (don't talk about the legality of it. i don't care) and i have been playing a lot. I've played all the countries so far, Korea is my favorite with the kick-ass Black Eagles.

My kids like RA2, it's too basic for my taste.

Have you tried Cossacks???? IMO the best game of the genre. The maps are massive, the resourses are virtually limitless (in fact they are limitless) and your population is also virtually limitless.

It's nice and difficult too.

no...I like RA2 because the rules are a bit more complex than AOE. The skirmishes are a little basic, but the missions are more complex.

Well that's it m^2k. I live for skirmishes, which RA2 is crap at. The thing is, Command & Conquer had excellent skirmishs but its RA2 offspring turned out to be total crap. SOmeone took their foot off the pedal methinks.

Actually Mediaeval Total war is the best strategy game out, but it will be replaced by Rome Total War.

The Total War series is perfection.
