It hits store shelves here in August on all platforms and features on the new XBOX Live thing. I play the game at the arcade and I kick ass, compared to the home version of it, they added 2 new characters, Zelda for GC, and Heihachi for PS2. I'm just wondering what conquest mode is gonna be like in the home version compared to the arcade.
If you play SC2 on arcade show off ur stats..
Platinum Colonel of the Cerberus Wins 445 Loss 204 (Kilik)
Platinum Squire (66 - 13) Ivy
Platinum Apprentice (48 - 0) Kilik

zelda can kick ass when brandishing the Triforce.
From reviews of imports and preview versions this is what I have gathered.
console char best in
XBOX = Spawn (best graphics)
GC = Link (best character)
PS2 = Heihachi (best controlls)
being a PS2 owner I am stuck with the least appealing graphics & special character, but what the hell controlls are paramount....right?

:D:D
By the way 007,
Link is a Nintendo character. Xbox is Microsoft... Just so there isn't any confusion. ;) Confused yet? :D

I just got SC2 for my Cube the other day. I've been working on the controls, and I've made a little progress, but it's going to take some time. I love the game, though. :D It kicks ass, literally.

I thought the controls were a bit quirky on the GC. Xbox was a bit better since it resembled the DC controls of old SC.

It's just like other fighting games... you have to get used to the controls.

Damn, we are almost too simmilar in gamming!
I as well got it, and I am as well working on the controls.
I have noticed the analog stick is not very accurate, and the d-pad is somewhat worthless, but can be used well.
I dont mind the huge ass A button and the x and y buttons, Seeing guard is also r or l, making it very easy on me.
I am not a huge fan of Link, but he kicks ass, and have ranged weapons, making him somewhat deadly against my unsuspecting friend.
But I am trying to get good with Voldo, comeone, he is awsome, and a spineless Italian! Pluse his third costume is PURE EVIL!
Anyone? I need some good stratagys and such, I was just a button masher before, and now I need to get used to stratagy (SSB:M does noe count!).

yeah beat the game. still tryin to get everything though
spawn is freakin awesome!
i hear hihachi (the ps2 guy if i spelt it wrong) is very cheap because he is very fast and powerful.
voldo is a hard charecther to get good at. you got to learn which moves end in which stances and you have to fight differently when fighting him against a computer vs him against another human.
i still wish i could play as link on my box though :(

Link is awesome. :D
Laz, have you seen his one throw where he jumps up on his opponent's shoulders and slaps them on the ass with his sword? Fuckin' hilarious, and it looks downright perverse when he does it to the female fighters. :D:D

I had to get the player's guide for it, too... but not just for the guide itself. I got the limited edition hardback player's guide that came with the original cd soundtrack and a poster. It's awesome. :D

Well, the most hard friends I would play against would be worthless button mashers, so I dont think it would be too good to acctualy fight agains them.
What is the point of the players guide? it shows the combos in the game, and that is basicly what they are for.
Ok, Link is cool (I love link, but he is not the best character in SC2), and NEVER try and fight with his cain weapon, its worthless, unless you soul charge every attack, so you get health back.
Ya, I think I am somewhat getting better at Voldo, but its hard to remeber most of the good combos, and the analog stick is not the best for direactions (I swear I have the stick to the left (4), but is plays as if it is in the upper left (7).
Talim is a nice button masher character! and DAMN FAST! (and looks nice, hey, she is my age, I am no pedaphile!)

That's a matter of opinion.
And if you're having trouble with the control stick, use the D-pad instead. I'm starting to get pretty good with the control stick...

Well, the d-pad is too small for my thump, it is hard to do like the 1,3,7,9 moves on it. Oh, well, I will work for it.
Ya, if the guide didnt cost too much, the CD is worth it, I love the music!

Yeah i was looking in the SC forums and they are all talking about the directions with numbers and stuff.
I dunt get it. Where does 9 go? where does any of the numbers go? A nice picture would be awesome :)
I got this poster and this artbook with my pre ordered purchase from game stop. Free stuff for a game i was gonna get anyway.

I got mine at GameStop, too. They gave me %25 off the price of the Player's Guide when I bought it. :)
Oh, and I don't get the numbers thing, either. Wtf is that all about? There's only eight directions. Left, right, up, down, and diagonals of the four. Where the hell do they get 9 from?
laz
8th September 2003, 03:35
7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3
That is the number thing, 5 is nutral (no direction pressed). You press the stick in on of the directions, like up - right is 9, down left is 1.
But that is about all I know.

Ah, ok. That makes sense... But I think I would prefer ¨ as opposed to 6. :p
Damn, my arrow is b0rked. :(

Can anyone explain what neutral gaurd option is? Its turned on by default.

Dunno... I didn't notice a difference in the guard either way.

So far I managed to play 3 characters now. Kilik, Taki, and Ivy.
Taki kicks are freaking fast. just pressing the kick button will unleash a 3 hit combo. and her red outfit makes me drool.
I think Ivy takes a while to master. Just getting those grab moves off is hard.
and kilik is just button mash for most players.
Arcade stats now:
Platinum General of the Wyvern (691-344)

I didn't notice it until later, but Ivy is talllllll... she's like, over a foot and a half taller than Link. :D
*has a thing for the tall ones*

when you beat arcade or extra arcade mode you unlock the charchter profiles.
Ivy is near 6 feet tall and is the daughter of the Pirate, Cervantes.

This game totally owns. I've played it on all 3 systems and I have to say the Xbox version rules (I don't even OWN an Xbox myself, so no favoratism there!) I own a GC but the small D-pad sucks.
I've pretty much unlocked everything in the entire game and right now I'm at level 76. My favorite characters:
Seung Mina (owned SC1, still my favorite because I know her every move)
Cassandra
Tali
Berzerker
Magic_Midget
11th September 2003, 19:44
Berzerker? Who the heck is he? (not an arcade character i know of..so give me slack..lol)?
whiteflip
12th September 2003, 03:45
Berzerker is a charechter you have to unlock. He is only playable in VS modes and that team battle mode and practice mode.
He is kinda like Astroth but larger in size and with a bigger ax (also has similar moves)
Other unlockables are Assasin who is like SC1's Hwang (one of my favorites) and Lizard Man (haven't got him yet :()
I found out what neutral gaurd does.

12th September 2003, 12:15
oh ok...dont like playing or fighting against huge characters...:P
anyone know how to do that guard impact...really good?
Shane M
12th September 2003, 12:58
Be on top of that block button, yo.
The only thing I don't like about SC2 is that it caters even MORE to button mashers than SC1 did. Neutral guard is just ridiculous, turn it off (basically auto-blocks if you aren't hitting any buttons). And now moves follow you even more than SC1 (i.e., someone starts a move, you walk around them, and in the middle of the move the guy changes direction and hits you...how annoying!)
Magic_Midget
12th September 2003, 20:18
ugh..i see what u mean. Tekken has neutral guard on it, I was always so used to pressing the guard button or moving back. Button mashers, have a more success on hitting the powerful moves than people who try to master it. I've grown accustomed to it and doesnt bother me as much.
Hate it when some characters (Maxi) get a combo started, the opponent then sidesteps it all, and ur guy is still going and is gonna get fucked up from behind.

Button mashers are easy to beat. You just got to know how each charechter plays and watch for their attacks. vary your attacks. and block theirs.

So true. That works well with the computer too. So even if you have to go through those super unbalanced handicapped missions:igor: in weapons master mode, learning the moves makes it that much easier.
