sorry mods if this is in the wrong place, not sure about any car sections here...

Well, I have a just gotten a new car (1990 Honda Accord), and well, I like music and I dont like tapedecks so I got a new cd-playing head unit (the thing in the dashboard) and the install kit and wire harnass. But the HU doesnt have any wires for the Power Antenna that my car has, and I think if I just install it, the antenna would stay down and have horrible recetion on radio. SO what can I do here? Return the Sterio or can I fix this?

Did your old stereo have a connection for the power antenna?

ya... I have yet to dissasemble my car yet, but ya, there is a wire for "power antenna" on the wire harnass I got (plugs into the old stereos plug thing, white plastic thing and has wires going for the new sterio to connect to), and in the guides I have read. and I have a power antenna... so It makes me wonder...

Most car stereos have an output for remote turn on for an amplifier. I believe you can use that to trigger the power antenna.

sweet, thanks m0e. Mine does have that option. If I only new about it sooner, I could have it installed tonight! Well I will read over the directions again, and see what it says.. but I didnt see anything about it the first time reading.

Correct. Most power antennas use the 3 wire hookup system. +12v, ground and a sense wire which connects either to the head unit, or is activated by the ignition when it's in the accessories or on position, or you can make a switch for it. You can use whatever you like, but if you have the trigger wire from the head unit or a switch it's usually better (so you can retract the antenna when going through car washes etc.)
