My friend said that he would sell me his ps2 for $50, but he said that it won't play blue games. Are most games blue, if so is there a way to fix the ps2, or is it not worth it to buy it? Also, the main reason that I am buying a ps2 is so that I can play GT4 when it comes out. Is GT3 blue, and if so do you think that GT4 will be blue? Thx for the help in advance!

I had a similar problem with a second hand PS2. Sony will fix the defect for you, you just need to pay for shipping. Go to sony's web page to get a work order to repair the machine, or e-mail a request to: sonyrepair@info.sel.sony.com

1. no GT3 is not blue (aka CD format), nor will GT4
2. if i didn't already have a PS2 i would most definitly buy this one
3. don't bother having sony fix it for who-knows how much money, same thing happened to me (along with many others), fixed it myself using a faq from www.gamefaqs.com for FREE (only thing is you have to void the warrenty to open the case) now it works good as new

The only games that are blue are the really old games. You also won't be able to play psx games on it, you won't be able to listen to CDs on it, etc. The ps2 has both a CD and a DVD laser(I believe). Your CD laser must be b0rked. The same thing happened to mine, except I can't play dvd's. I still haven't gotten mine fixed, but I need to - I can't do anything on it, really.

the only cds the player should have problems reading are blue bottomed CD's. It will play regular cd's dvd's & psone games just fine. (if he has the same defect as I had)
