View Full Version : Wishlist: Sort by Track #

When I load up an album (usually in it's own directory), I would like to be able to sort by track number so that all the songs come up in order. I don't really like putting the track number in the filename because it doesn't seem to make much sense logically.

Anyway, add Sort by Track #!

you have to make winamp show the tracknumber in the playlist to be able to sort it this way

for mp3 files: ctrl+p > preferences > plugins > input > nullsoft mpeg audio decoder > configure > title/tags > add %a to the title formatting

for ogg vorbis files: ctrl+p > > preferences > plugins > input > nullsoft vorbis decoder > configure > display > add $dec(%tracknumber%,2) to the title formatting

or more lazily, have all tracks listed in the bottom panel of the media library, sort by track listing then sort by artist then enqueue.

hence the preceding disclaimer "or more lazily"

Would still be handy if it was an option though, sort by album and track number. Surely its just a small bit of code to add to the sort menu as the numbers are already stored in the tags...

would be very handy indeed. but the wishlists will tell you how many people agree with you (lots) and the revisions will tell you how likely it is to happen (little). Maybe it;'s hard to implement or something, but 'sort by artist>album>track number' doesn't seem likely for some reason. arse.

Yes, but as Lion King explained, the feature is already implemented...
you just have to enable it, then use "sort by title"
(assuming your files are tagged properly)
