Whatever happened to some1?

A little while ago we had a prolific guy as a member of our prestigious community (haha) named some1 (http://forums.winamp.com/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=71). You may have never noticed him or you may have been great mates with him, either way he hasn’t been around much recently and he just wanted to let me tell you all why. This is part of a PM he sent me:

So, where did I go, and why?

Basically, I started coming to these boards because I had a lot of time to kill, and nothing to effectively kill it with. The forums became my distraction from a pretty boring and pretty empty life...a nice little digital playground that helped make time pass quicker and kept me from thinking too deeply about anything. A little bit after the most recent new year's, however, things took a decided turn for the better, and I found myself something to do with all my extra time that was much more than just a time consuming diversion (it was also enjoyable for one), and gradually started posting less and less as my need for my electronic prozac diminished until, as you noticed, I stopped posting entirely for awhile. And so I had a quite enjoyable summer (and spring, for that matter), during which I had no need or desire to argue about random stuff with people on the Internet...but unfortunately, traveling currently has me seperated from that which has kept me away from these boards for so long (completely for the moment, but only partially after tomorrow), and sadly I need some help to take my mind off of things (which is why this message is so long), hence the forums. Tomorrow however, things change again, and I may very well be gone for yet another long stretch of time...

But, am I actually back or just stopping through?

That depends on how much distraction I happen to need in the coming months...currently I think I'm leaning towards just stopping through, and even if I do stay for awhile, I'll definately be disappearing again come mid-december.

It's good to hear from him though. Know what I love the most though, the fact that he sent you a private message, and you felt that it woudl be cool to share it with everyone on the boards. I mean, who cares that it was a private message right? I mean, that must be why he sent you a private message, so you could plaster it on the boards. I know that when I send someone a private message the only thing I want is a reply and for it to be posted publicly. :rolleyes: (read: next time make sure they don't care if you post their stuff publicly, this goes for everyone)

The message he posted on the boards was what made me contact him in the first place
The passage I replicated in this post from the private message some1 privately sent me was not the private bit. Indeed the rest of the private message was indeed private expressing private desires for my privates and the private privates of certain other members of this non-private board. He did actually privately confirm that he had written a non-private piece of prose. And to paraphrase (so as not to intrude on the private part of the private message) he said along the lines of “here’s why I left, if you think it’s good enough for the forums then post it” so I made a non-private thread so that everyone could be in on the private secret private message.

Some one you obviously don’t know so why did you post instead of ignoring this topic?

FYI some1 was a member that we had here for quite some time, he used to post cool topics and have long discussions with people who wanted them (me included) he also wrote a really cool article for my ezine.

But soon after all that he disappeared for a long time. I few weeks ago he posted a reply to a topic and that made me PM him and ask him where he has been, he then PMed me back the message at the start of this thread.

some1 was an exceptional forum member who just kind of dissapeared. He comes back now and then, but we miss him.

and btw,s ry for my outburst steak, a PM situation at a different board ticked me off.
