"When punk turned into new wave and the new bands played pop, The Jags came around. And made pop. I don't know why it sounds so much Elvis Costello with a thinner sound, it must be the special voice of the singer of the band, Nick Watkinson. 'Back of my hand' is a brilliant pop song. It was Atkinson and Alder who wrote (almost) all the songs, and some special lyrics can be remembered from the songs 'Woman's world' and 'I never was a beach boy'. How they didn't become hits must be that music fastly turned into synth, the really deserved charting with those. I'm glad to have them before The Jam in my record collection.

It has come to our knowledge Paddy O'Toole went on to play bass with The Bewley Brothers co-writing the single 'Spinning on a time bomb', and recording the 2001 album 'Songs from the cypress tree'."
