I would like to set my station up so that it becomes 'on demand'
I am confused about a couple of things
My users connect to me via shoutcast, my website and a bookmark I have sent out. I also have a static DNS link to a dynamic one. What do I change ?
Also I do live mixing. Is it possible to switch it over so that I can do live mixes as well from time to time ?
my dynamic link is http://force9.mine.nu
and my port address is (at the moment) 81.77.155.114;8000.
Any help unravelling this would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the Sticky post titled:
SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME!
Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled:

How to Setup On-Demand with SHOUTcast -> On Demand Audio (Radio Toolbox)
Q: Is it possible to switch it over so that I can do live mixes as well from time to time ?
A: Yes.

I have read the sticky post about on demand. I still dont really understand what I have to change in terms of address.
At the moment my static Dns, force8.mine.nu is actually linking to
81.77.115.114:8000/listen.pls (note that ip. changes everytime I reboot.(Dynamic)).
does this have to change to : 81.77.115.114:8000/content/myfile.pls ?

If you put an mp3 titled foo.mp3 into the content directory, then it is accessable via http://DNAS_ip:DNAS_portBase/content/foo.pls
Example:
If your DNAS ip is 81.77.115.114 and your DNAS portBase is 8000 and you put an mp3 titled foo.mp3 into the content directory, then it is accessable via http://81.77.115.114:8000/content/foo.pls
******************
You can get a static name, such as foo.bar.com (not as cool as that, though :)) from http://www.no-ip.com or one of the other myriad of Dynamic DNS Services (http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Internet/Servers/Address_Management/Dynamic_DNS_Services/).
Then, your links would be:
DNAS link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport
Listen link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport/listen.pls

Am I right in thinking that if a listener connects to my station then they will be presented a list of files in the content folder and they can choose which track or mix they can listen to.
My signature on here (and on my website) links to force9.mine.nu:8000/listen.pls do I have to change all my links to force9.mine.nu:8000/content.pls ?
If I want to disengage on demand content so that listeners are just presented with my live stream what do I have to do. I have a mp3 pro encoder tht I can switch over to a line in, do I just do that?
Thanks for the quick reply

Q: Am I right in thinking that if a listener connects to my station then they will be presented a list of files in the content folder and they can choose which track or mix they can listen to.
A: No.
You'll need to make the links.
The force9.mine.nu:8000/listen.pls link is for a sourced DNAS connection. If your're not going to source the DNAS, then that link won't do anything.
You should be able to have a mixture of ondemand and live (that is sourced by a Winamp/DSP combo) content. Just make sure you don't exceed the DNASs upload.

Is there a way of letting the listener choose what they want to listen to ?
How do I incorporate a live feed in 'on demand' ?
Is this really for choosing tracks from a web based list

Q: Is there a way of letting the listener choose what they want to listen to?
A: That's the definition of ondemand. Check out MP3 Toolbox (http://www.radiotoolbox.com/docs/?p_id=2) for an alternative.
Q: How do I incorporate a live feed in 'on demand' ?
A: You don't. A live feed to the DNAS is accessed via http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport/listen.pls
Q: Is this really for choosing tracks from a web based list
A: Again, that is the definition of ondemand.
