I just added this new design to my portfolio last week (Clients Site),
The content isn't there yet, this is just the test template.
I was looking for sort of a quiet, classical yet confident feel to it. Don't know if I achieved that but I think I have the color quite well balanced and when the content (In standard font 10point) it should look quite nice.
Anyway for thos ewho would like a look and care to comment, allways appreciated, positive or negative,
Link is here > Irish Buteyko Foundation (http://www.2412electrics.com/buteyko_test)
I'm really chuffed with this contract as it could mean the difference between me making it in this business or not...

Heya Smeggle.
I like the colours you've gone with, they are nice and neutral, understated etc.
One thing I'd probably do is take out the frames, and just put the header banner into each page. That'll mean than individual pages can be directly linked to from other sites - ie. as it stands, linking to http://www.2412electrics.com/buteyko_test/buteyko_5.htm from an external site, will only bring up the frame page, so you'd have to link to index.html and tell them which link to then click on. Does that makes sense?
For the links on the left, you might want to make them static font sizes, by putting the font-size into a style tag (ie. <a style="font-size:12px" href="etcetcetc"> ). When I did my usual "View > Text Size > Largest" test, a couple of the links flowed onto the next line.
Another thing about the links, you might consider specifying the colours for them. If a user has lighter colours set as their default link colours, and a darker default background colour, then your site shows up with the lighter, orange background colour, but uses whatever colour the user has set as default. Just adding [b]link=blue vlink=purple[b] to your BODY tag will fix that.
About the orange boxes for the links. The few pixels of pale yellow above the first link, is fatter (higher/deeper) than the number of pixels on either side of the links. It looks linke it's approx. double the height of the rest of the horizontal spacer lines of pale yellow. Also, at the bottom of the yellow links TD, there's about triple the amount of vertical spacing as between the links.
I'm going to take a screencap to show you what I mean, about the link colours and the spacing.
Apart from these things, I think it's nice and simple, very easy to browse thru. I'd like to see it with some content in it, tho. =)

Smeggle, text based and auto stretch? I know this might not matter that much but, you should set a fixed width at 640 pixels. Just my opinion. :)

I used your link there(Sort of like an external link you mention) and I got the whole page ok...with the header etc Bit onfused as to what you mean.....
I still have a lot of stuff to do on it and I'll sort out the style, font tags etc then It should be fully active by end of mnth- maybe next mnth....In the mean time if you want to know a bit about buteyko

*ermmmm* YeS.....I know they may *Ameteurish* compared to some but hey everyone has to start some where. I have removed all traces of the first stuff I did :o :o :D
still waiting for the content though
I reckon my commercial site ( I have to make a proper living or at least try ;) ) is looking 10 times better than it did when I first started last year.
still constructing some of it but I like the layout and with using Frames, I have more control over content. (Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link as It's commercial, so p.m. if you want a look)
My Trybalink site is also going to be re-designed with frames and the new site should be up by Christmas with a load of new content. Oh well I'll keep plodding along and learning, Thanks for the comments guy's :)
