WHat are your Winamp/DSP combo yellowpages settings?

What configuration changes have you made to the default DNAS?

Is the mini-browser open on the Winamp/DSP combo?

ya infinite loop listening is not advised, don't listen to your stream while you are broadcasting from the same soundcard.

lets see thats one thing to tell the people who are broadcasting..as for changes to DNAS..nothing really..changed the portnumber and set users to 100. i have 100 meg simultaenous + 100gb a month which i am not close to as my server capacity..everything else is default. winamp dsp are just yellowpages and everyitng is filled out. no mini browser. as far as i can tell but i will have to ask the other broadcasters.

I do this, I suppose (broadcast (with NULL) and "monitor" on the same PC - one soundcard). I haven't had any problems; I don't think.

Well, it may work for you and cause the problem mentioned above for others. I wouldn't know.. I've never had this problem.

what he is doing is using the same winamp to listen that the DSP is running through to broadcast, and no he is probably not using the null output by the sounds of it. He is probably using Winamp as the source rather then the soundcard.

Okay.. I understand that. Now a question just for the sake of my curiosity and education: Why would it show that information simply by listening to your stream through the broadcasting WinAmp? I would suspect that it would only show the title twice, no vital private information such as that..

because as it loops it continually adds on the stream name to the current song, over and over until the string gets to large that the string is incorrectly parsed by the shoutcast server.

I'm sure it's something that could be fixed by nullsoft but given the fact that it's caused by misuse of the server it's not a priority to fix.

I had exactly the same problem and Tom told me that it was because the string was too long or something like that. I use to listen my own boradcast trough the same sound card. Should I trust that when I am playing songs on my Winamp and the server is running I am broadcasting? or my broadcast is going out without listen to my own brodcast?

If you are broadcasting live it's much safer to NOT listen to your broadcast at the same PC/SoundCard that is doing the encoding. Use a seperate PC for monitoring or have a friend listen on the other end and tell you how it's going.

If you are using Winamp to source rather then the soundcard then it doesn't matter, just null the broadcasting winamp and monitor away, as the DSP will not touch the soundcard for it's transmission.
