This post has NOTHING to do with the WA5 release.. I just want to know what people think about this idea.
I Love being able to add different view types to the library, but it is very limited. Being able to restrict what media to display is only part of controlling what is displayed.
Choosing between "artist/album" and "simple" is also very nice, but again is limited.
What if you could associate various media with different library elements? For example:
+audio tracks can be associated with text (lyrics/tabs), dynamic visuals (visualizations-either in general or specific to a song) as well as other library elements (artist/genre/album/year)
+albums can be associated with text (lyrics/tabs of all songs), artwork (the album cover), links (purchase online) and other library elements (tracks/artist/genre/year)
etc. etc.
Things like album <-> artwork association can be automatic. Either they can be found online or in the folder where the album is (if you have a strong directory structure) Music <-> Visualization should also be automatic, but can be set for specific vis. for a certain song.
What if you could select which elements to display given a certain library element? If I am playing with an album, the library should look one way, with certain elements, if I chose a song, it can look entirely different. The elements don't even have to be locked in to the library (like the visualization)
This is a bit abstact, I know.. I am having trouble really formalizing it. But anyone have any thoughts?
