Was it my imagination, or did someone mention that a new version of shoutcast was on the way?

SHOUTcast3 has been massivly delayed. AOL has taken a lot of people from Nullsoft to work on other AOL projects (related to streaming). Right now the main focus of attention is on getting Winamp 5.0 out the door. Hopefully one day there will be a new SHOUTcast release, just probally not anytime soon.
[Rumor Mill: The next version of SHOUTcast will use Dolby AAC instead of MP3 and have better intergrated Video (NSV) streaming support]

why will it be using AAC? is it more bandwidth efficent than mp3 or what? plus, will this severely drop the number of supported players? it makes no sense to switch from a perfectly good codec that has worked ever since shoutcast started to one that not many people use or care about. only reason I know of AAC is because my digital cable box always lists the digital channels as using AAC audio (wait. that was AC# it listed. uggh. im getting all flustered here. )

well the way I understood it is that you will have the option, hence the content-type header, but I could be wrong.
At any rate the reasoning to use it would be to save on bandwidth.
