ok i was curious about this as i have two monitors.

i have my main monitor, and i have a TV as my second monitor.

the thing is i often turn my monitor off when listening to music. and i don't like to turn it on to do stuff in winamp (yes i want to use the mouse rather than keyboard shortcuts (well i don't really care LOL)

the thing is i was wondering if there is a way to have two copys of winamp interface open, but only having one instance of the music/back end.

so i could leave one winamp on the TV screen (perhaps the basics like EQ interface and playlist), and have the other normal winamp on the monitor still. everything including the ML open.

the thing is i often have my tv on or have a remote to turn it on (if i want to check somthing on winamp i can just change the channel)

but dont' want to flick on/off my monitor (just don't think its good for it LOL, and it is a bit more valuable than the tv)

anyway just curios if this is possible.

a new skin or an old on i don't mind (i will have winamp 5 when it comes out so if it works in that then thats cool)

thanks and c ya

Don't know about the multimon side of things, but I don't see why not...

Ctrl+Alt+N to spawn a new instance of Winamp
Then drag windows to wherever, and close the ones you don't want to see.

sounds like he wants to be seeing the same song play in both windows... right? I think the only way for you to do this would be to have some special skin made.

oh yeah . . . missed that bit first time round

i was wondering if there is a way to have two copys of winamp interface open, but only having one instance of the music/back end.

The current answer to that could possibly be 'no' :( :igor:
Or at least, there's no method I personally know of . . .
(then again, I've forgotten more things than most people know, lol) ;)

Or maybe I've just not been getting enough sleep lately :D

cant you just clone your interface so that the same thing is displayed on both monitors? what graphics card are you using?

one option would be to enable the system tray control icons that are installed with Winamp5 in the general plugins.

Another workaround to me would be to use a freeform skin that has more than one set of controls.(you need winamp5 or 3 for the freeform skins)

Some skins has a small remote in addition to the main window, place the remote on your main screen and all the other windows on the second screen.

yes i could but a 1600x1200 screen on a 800x600 tv is not an option LOL, so not really.

witha freeform skin, if i were to make my own how much would i need to know in coding to double the interface.

you see i am a pretty able graphic designer and would love to make my own interface, however the only code i currently know is HTML (which isn't really code is it) and CSS.

so yeah is it hard to do.

perhaps i could create a skin that you can open as many of a certain window as you like so i could have it on 3 monitors for example LOL (i don't know how the visualisation would work on multiple screens with different resolutions.

Hmmm you got me thinking.

oh and DJEgg yeah you probably have forgotten more than anyone here knows.
