music on internal speaker?

Hi dudes.. i was remembering a floppy disk wich was in my hands some years ago, before the begninig of the computer music (mp3), it was around 1992, that diskette had a file that ran on MS-DOS that when you ran it it plays a song singed by a woman that says something like "for ever and ever and all the way"...

it was crazy 'cause it made the keyboard, floppy and hard disk leds to flash following the song rythm.. and the song (which sound into the internal speaker of course) had a very good quality.. (i suppose about 10hz)..


does someone knows what the hell am I talkin about?

was it just a dream?

is that possible?.. i mean, those times.. DOS.. music in the internal speaker.. leds flashing, following the song rythm.. ????



damn this shit has been in my head all this week and I can't found anything about.. none knows it.. none else saw that freak file...

Yeah that's totally possible! I used to have a driver that made all my windows 3.1 sounds play on my internal speaker cause I was a poor kid and couldn't even get a soundblaster card.

Very possible, the only thing that would be difficult would be getting something half realistic on the internal speaker when you can only change notes 18.2 times a second. I suppose you could do it if you managed to change the timer.

The flashing lights are all done through ports (not sure which).

I've never seen it, but if you find it, be sure to post.

Probable, but why not use an audio card?

He's talking about 1992, most people didn't have sound cards.

As for running it today, never underestimate the geek factor.

I was shoked because the method..

I ran it on a 186 (that came with 256kb of RAM memory and no hard disk.. yo know.. we bought it around 1985, and then we bought a 10mb hard disk).. can you even imagine a song playing in that peace of shit?


and of course the floppy drive was reading, then how the hell could it flash in an special rythm? (together with the keyboard and hard disk lights)..


very freak.. I would love to see that thing again.. and the most strange is that my friend who gave me that floppy, don't remember it.. maybe I was just dreaming? :eek:
