People will answer you when they answer you , do not expect everyone to jump as soon as you post, there are other threads and other users who also need answers.

In the meantime, practice something what us grownups call "patience"

Or failing that you could read the user guides that came with your CD burning software, not all burning software works in the same fashion, or if you are trying to burn CD's using Winamp, you could read the inbuilt winamp help files, which can be accessed by pressing F1 while winamp is running, there is a section called burning and ripping with winamp.

The direct url for the winamp help file is.
http://winamp.com/support/help/50/Winamp5.htm

Failing that, you might also want to try give us some system specifications, details of what software you are trying, and failing, to understand.

Or you might even want to try the search feature of these forums and look up the countless threads already out there that deal with CD burning.

1. Please, this is a volunteer supported board, give us some time to answer.

2. A cd _player_ won't burn a cd. You need a cd _burner_.

3. Please provide detailed system specs. Eg. CD Burner model, operating system version, filetypes in question, cdr brand.

4. Any other information you can provide is appreciate (like does your regular burning software work?)

Jones beat me to it :)

Under the "Devices" treeitem in the Media Library, do you have at least one "CD-R" device listed? My setup shows two "CD" (CD D: and CD E: ) entries, and my burner, "CD-R F:".

If you don't have a CD-R entry, then Winamp isn't recognizing your burner.

I only get the "NO CD" message on the CD entries, the CD-R entry will allow me to add files for burning, then after clicking burn, it'll ask me to insert a blank cd.

the only place i get a "No CD" sign is after i have burnt the CD and then took it into another room to try in, say my moms, CD player, to check that it works

OK, i have just put NERO 5 back on my computer (we had the hard drive reinstalled, due to a virus), i have dragged the mp3 file into the NERO 5 window and clicked on 'burn', everything seemd to be going to plan, the little orange light is on my E:drive, now its finished i will go and try it in my CD player in my bedroom.
Fingers crossed.
