So I just got my shiny new Dell Jukebox for Christmas. I open it up, put in the driver CD, and what happens? It tries to install MMJB, I of course cancel it being that I am and always have been a dedicated winamp user since the dawn of time. I later learn though that MMJB is REQUIRED to upload files to my player....
So I said to myself, these dice just aint going to roll...
I am sick of being pulled into crappy software because these damn corporate contracts.
I therefore have been spending the last few days trying to find a way to use this with Winamp, through plugins, etc etc etc, but have been unable to. So I now come here asking if it would be possible to make compatability with the Dell Jukebox.
Thanks

Currently nobody has made a Winamp plug-in to support the Dell Jukebox.

I haven't bought an mp3 player yet, but when I called Dell to ask about their DJ, they said it would be compatible with Winamp. I'm actually curious to know which mp3 players work with Winamp - it will affect my decision on which to buy. I'll look for another thread on that topic, but if you happen to know, I'd appreciate advice on that question.

usually if you connect your player via usb port it should pop up as another drive in "my computer" I bet you can just drop the files into the drive. but then again its a Dell, which I find to be horrible computers

what sawg is trying to say is "currently nobody has made a winamp plug-in to support ANY PORTABLE PLAYER AT ALL."
*unless you want to count the ipod one, which seems to be buggy for a lot of people and is still in beta

The dell jukebox is awsome except for the fact that it requires musicmatch, which kinda pisses me off a lot.

You might want to go check these guys out: http://www.redchairsoftware.com/
They have software for the Dell Jukebox it looks like. I am using the version that works with Creative's Jukebox III. Basically, it integrates with Windows Explorer. So, all I do is just drag and drop MP3 files to my Jukebox III and manage the playlists and so on using it. Using the built-in webserver that it also installs, I can play MP3's from it using a http streaming method.
I don't know about the Dell Jukebox, but I do know they are or at least were working on a Winamp Media Library Integration for the Creative Jukebox.. in beta though.. it crashes on my computer so I don't use that part.
But, when I am browsing/exploring the Jukebox, I can right-click and choose to play in Winamp and that works.
Since Creative's Jukebox III does not mount itself as a removable HD, I have to use some other software to transfer files in and out of it. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it as an alternative to moving files in and out of your Jukebox.
