I think it would be cool to have a button that would mute all sound other than the music that Winamp is playing. I don't know how hard this would be to do but I know that I would use it alot. I play game and sometimes I would like to dissable the game sound and just listen to Winamp. Usually the options can be changed in the game to turn off the sound but it takes time to get to them. It would just be easier to have a button in Winamp. Does anyone else think this is a good idea? Or do you all think it sux.

The Idea is not bad. Only I do not think it's possible, i do not know much about how the sound works in windows, but the volume of all sound that are played by the PC, (except MIDI) are controled by the Wave Line (even if DirectSound is selected from Winamp).
The only think i do is lower the sound volume in the game's options, but somme also lower the sound played by Winamp.

one way to do it would to be use some form of direct-sound output, create a primary non-shared audio buffer with full exclusive access... but, i dont think thatll work anymore, not too sure tho, and i dont think all of the options for smt like that are in the DS output plugin.

I think if you put two sound cards in your computer and let winamp out put through the second sound card and you system the other card, only the winamp sound would play. you can even mute the system sound because each mixer would have its own mixer.

when you put the second sound card in the system you can say which you want the system to play in by going to sound and audio device in the control pannel

I used to have two sound cards (until one does not work anymore). I think that you can do something like that using only one soundcard, but with more chanels.
I have now only an integrated card and I can set the Line In jack to work as a line out but all sounds are played through both the chanels.
