View Full Version : Stroke...yourself
10th January 2004, 02:12
It seems that in this day and age there are just so many ideals that people are supposed to live up to that nobody can ever be happy with who they are. Girls are either too fat or their breasts too small, guys are too short, or have not enough muscles. Both sexes can never seem to dress appropriately. This world-wide culture has left people feeling down about themselves, and must look to others for approval or acceptance.
I say instead of this, instead of "stroking" each other, let's stroke ourselves for once. What I want is for everyone to list something, or many things for that matter, that they are happy with about themselves. On that note, I shall start.
I am proud of the fact that I am not afraid to speak my mind. Secondly I am proud that I am not too proud to ask others for help or at least their opinions on things.

I like how I look in my black cap.
I like that I can draw.
I like that I have my own mind, and Monkey See, Monkey Do doesn't really apply here.
I like that I will defend my right to my own mind.

I'm quite happy with the list of things I want to change, and the fact I'm too lazy to actually change/aren't quite sure how.
I bet there are things about myself I like, however, I'm too pessimistic to see it most of the time.

I dig how I'm direct, despite it getting me in trouble, it's a good thing to have around. I hate being bullshitted therefore I don't do it.
I dig how I can write fairly well, and I like my writing style.
I like how I can draw (I have no scanner still, so you'll just have to wait on the proof).
10th January 2004, 03:08
I like being the only person (not a joke) in my school that hangs out with more than one "crowd" of people.
10th January 2004, 03:16
lets see... I like... ummmm....
This is hard :(
I hate myself... Honestly there is nothing about me that I like.
I like my taste in music.
10th January 2004, 03:16
I like my weirdness. If weirdness was a power source, I could keep Los Angeles powered up for eternity.
10th January 2004, 03:20

10th January 2004, 04:02
I like the fact that I have high ideals and try and live up to them.
I like the fact that I like my job.
I like the fact that at 36 I'm still very much into new music.
I like the fact that people see me as someone reliable.
I like the fact that I will support my friends through thick and thin and that my friends know this.
I like the fact that I have opinions and I'm not afraid to stick my neck out for them, not matter how unpopular they are.
10th January 2004, 04:06
I like the fact that I drive a Chevy... and I'm damn proud of it, too. :)

i like the fact i can sit on my ass all day, not exercise, eat unhealthy and large amounts of food, and aside from a slight stomach, i am in great health.

Ok, here's my more serious post:
I love being a mom, even though at times it can be the hardest thing to be at times.
I'm a good friend, loyal to those that mean the most to me. I'm also very, hmmm, I guess protective, say what you want of me, no biggie, but you go after a loved one or friend and it's on.
I can laugh at myself, I'm far from perfect, and have way too many blonde moments (no insult intended to any blondes here).
I can appreciate the quiet moments, where no words are needed.
But, I think the best "feature", is my sense of humor. How else would I have survived here? ;)

For a minute there I thought dlink was going to elaborate on his master debator skills.
Pride comes when a job is well done.
10th January 2004, 06:31
"different strokes, for different folks!"
10th January 2004, 07:07
I'm fiercely loyal to my friends and family. I'd give my life without hesitation to protect them. But at the same time, I'm independant and not "clingy" or the least bit high-maintenance.
I like my sense of humor, and cherish the (rare) times I can actually make other people laugh. My sarcasm is endless.
I love my hairy manb00bs. :D They are my source of power over the universe.
•I like that I can be funny and that I can put almost anyone I meet into a good mood too

•I like that I can be good friends with anyone if I try (Even though I'm a bit shy at some times)
•I like that I can even learn to not worry about the bad/not-so-good aspects of me (I suck at *insert random act here*, I may not be good-looking, but..., etc.)
