What is your favorite movie genre?

Hey everybody,

I wonder why no one else has done a thread like this in this movie forum before, it's one of the first ideas I had in mind when thinking about a thread in here...if we know what the people like and don't, we know how reliable their review is on a certain movie ;)

Well, the poll is pretty much self-explainatory, please also not just name the genre, try to include some movie examples or say why you like that kind of genre best...

In case I forgot a certain genre, a mod can feel free to add it!

i voted thriller and suspence...

but I think it's more important to me, how it's filmed.... fake blood doesn't mean much to me, but instructors like Hitchcock, Hideo Nakata (Dark water, The Ring), Ole Bornedal (Nighwatch, The Kingdom) etc... geniuses that can make your spine want to hide behind the couch without using computer effects, fake blood, and choped up limbs, are definanly my favourite flicks...

Thrill/Suspense, but I like to have a bit of a horror theme in that. Not a blood and guts and flayed limbs flying at you horror mind you but more in the “Fallen” vein.

Comedy movies are my favorite (Like most any Jim Carrey movie), although I'm really into action movies too (Mainly any movie that has to do with cars)...I'm also into sci-fi movies like the "Star Wars" trilogy, but I'm not into fantasy like "The Lord Of The Rings"... :)

Without doubt, sci-fi. Particularly 50's & 60's.:)

The lack of special effects was more than made up for by the stories.... I can follow a 50's film easier than something like The Matrix. Blink and you miss the whole plot...

I'd have to go with thriller/suspense too, since I find it very interesting how a movie can pull you into it's story and maybe even make you afraid although it's "just a movie"...Drama movies can be good sometimes too but not too often for me...keep away from me with romantic movies and I don't really find most comedy movies funny, don't know why...action can be good sometimes, too but there should be a story behing it as well.

Anyway, my fave genre would be thriller/suspense and I would add "weird/twisted" since they are the only ones that still provide the possibility of surprising the viewer :)

I like the match of action and comedy genres in a movie like Jackie Chan movies. Although I have accidentally clicked on horror genre as my fave genre.

I prefer thriller/horror films personally
I like to be taken into a film..something that pulls me into the plot..
I also enjoy films that make you think and dont actually reveal anything(i.e who did it!) until the end..even to the viewer :P

I love to watch Romantic movies. If I have a plan to watch movie then I always prefer to watch romantic movies rather than any other..!! My favorite romantic movie is THE LAST SONG. It's really a superb movie..!!
