I would have posten in GD, but GD is already so full of shit.....ok:
I have this project about Africa I am working on; part of it includes describing the ancient empire of Mali Do you think I should include this paragraph about it?
" It is interesting to compare the government of Mali to the current American government. The government of Mali was fairly efficient and maintained law and order throughout its territory, which certainly separates that government from our government today (especially in efficiency). Mansa Musa actually examined legal cases; now, the politicians and government either take no part or, if the case might harm their chances of reelection, do their best to hide them. Yet another huge difference is foreign policy. Mansa Musa tried to make a good impression on the Arabs by giving them lots of gold. Now, the current administration apparently does its best to make a bad impression on the Arabs dropping bombs on them. One major similarity is that while Mansa Musa inherited kingship from his father, current President George W. Bush essentially inherited the place as president from his father. Another glaring similarity between our modern government and the one of Mali is that they both waste money: while we waste money through inefficiency and badly used foreign aid, Mali’s Mansa Musa put himself in debt by giving away so much gold when he went on his pilgrimage. We also waste money because the politicians have far, far better health and social security benefits than the common people, which, without a doubt, resembles a monarchy. A final likeness between these two realms is the way they react to instability. Jealousy and suspicion divided the people in Mali when times became unstable. Likewise, here in the U.S., when there is a problem, the Republicans and Democrats instantly start to point fingers at each other."
