What is it ? I would go for the 2 DVD set of "Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within". One of the few dvds that really blew me away.

What are yours ?

All the DVDs I own are movies that I really enjoy. But the most impressive one ... I don't know. I would have to say:

Tron

My Wizard of Oz that I imported from Canada a few years ago has always struck me as one of the most impressive DVD's I've got.

Beautifuly restored film for the best image quality, choice of original soundtrack or newly mixed surroud.

A wealth of extras that any fan would die for, animated menu's, documentaries,out-takes, smaller features, interviews, making of, more original trailers than you can shake a stick art, artwork galleries,an original audio only radio broadcast of the story and a fair sprinkling of easter eggs.

And get this, it's all on one disc, non of this multi disc lark. Now consider this came out a few years ago, nearly 4 now, and it still stands head and shoulders above most movies that get released today.

Not sure if the same package got released to Europe or not, packaging certainly looks the same.

Just smashing.

By impressive, I don't necessarily mean the movie, more the technical quality :)

Oh. Well, in that case, I guess.. Gladiator.

My Akira Kurosawa box set, cost me a bloody fortune, but it's all worth it...

and then i have Lars von Triers - The Kingdom imported from Canada so my ex girlfriend could have english subtitles...

Kurosawa box-set:eek: I've been slowly gathering all the Kurosawa releases on DVD, still too many to go.

Most impressive DVD? I don't really care for the extras, 'tis the film I want and the best quality possible. So, I'll go for The Day The Earth Stood Still. Nice extras, if you want 'em, but the quality of the transfer is exceptional.

Lord Of The Rings Fellowship Of The Ring and Two Towers extended edition dvd boxes.
As I live in an Eastern European country where people with average income can't really afford dvds yet... it was impressive for me when my foreign boyfriend sent me those.

I don't own this, but I rented Die Hard II (a R2-release)once. It even had some interactive "games", for instance, like mixer-panlel where you could play with audio and video...

The best sound and picture of any DVD I own? I'd have to say Finding Nemo. Its the best Pixar release yet, and it will destroy wimpy subwoofers in a heartbeat anywhere near reference volume.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Finding Nemo.

Kung Pow: Enter The Fist, Chosen Edition

I mean, come on. If your DVD has an ass, it'll kick it.

Note: The following entry is just wishful thinking:

All three extended widescreen versions of LOTR + ALL the extras on one DVD.

Now that is one very compact disc.

Indeed. The German Ultimate Edition of Terminator 2 is exceptional as well. Loads and loads of extras. Downside is that the menu system is pretty confusing.
