EQ bug

In 5.02, the Equalizer does not reset to zero. Play a file that sets the EQ high or low, then start another song that does not have a Preset. The Equalizer level stays high or low, but does not reset to 0 like 2.79 did.

Is this just me? Is there a setting that needs to be set?

Compaq Laptop (Evo N610c), WinXP, 2.0 MHz, 30G HD, 128MB RAM, unknown audio card

It's not supposed to reset automatically. You have to set a default preset.

Zero everything out.
Hit the Presets button and select the Save menu. Select Default.

When Auto is on it will reset automatically if there is no preset now.
