I just recently discovered and registered Winamp 5. Yes, it rocks. The pro version does a great job ripping, and the group tag edit function works great.

Wishlist:

Post #1 FILE RENAME:
It would be real nice if I could highlight tracks in the media library, right click, and select "RENAME FILE VIA TAG". The way I would see this working is that there would be an option set for filename (i.e. <Artist>\<Album>-<Title>, ...). I have used several programs that do this, and the MAIN thing that I would like to see added to the function, is a sequence number ("(2)","(3)",etc) added to the end of the filename if there is a duplicate.

Example: I rip a soundtrack album, where each song is named "Various Artist - Song Name from movie XYZ". My format is <Artist> - <Title>. The CDDB does not retrieve artist names by track, so, I go back to my media library and change "Various Artist" in each track to the actual artist name. Now my file names are all out of sync.

The idea of being able to rename files based on tags is being done in a log of other programs. NONE of them that I have found, will handle derived duplicate names. They all simply flag them as an error and SKIP them. I would LOVE to find one that renames the duplicates and simply appends a sequence number to them. I would even more like it if this could be done in MY FAVORITE new mp3 app...

It seems like this feature would be easy enough to add to Winamp, and would add value to it in it's feature list.

What ya'll think?

(more wishlist posts to come in the future...)

It's a great option that allready is used by musicmatch jukebox. So Winamp misses a great option for everyone.

By the way, it's allready in the wishlist here.
