I got a shoutcast server running on my computer.
I got a link to it on my website:
http://www.stylefm.com
How do I use my host's bandwith for the server. (lunarPages)
Right now I'm using my bandwith but I can only get 2 users at 128kbps on my cable modem.
I thought about putting my website's ip where "localhost" goes or using my host as a relay server but I'm not sure how to do that or if that's what I need to do.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have remote access to the server to install and instantiate the DNAS?

you would need shell access. As well as permission to open ports.

Aloha kelman3!
Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search (http://forums.winamp.com/search.php) on 'telnet ssh'.
Look for a post by clubexplosion titled:
Install shoutcast on host
Note: Other search criteria may yield more results.
Please read some polite advice. (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1073288#post1073288)

Let's say I get root access and I run the DNAS on the server.
Do I have to upload all my mp3s to the server or can I just put:
myipaddress/program files/shoutcast/content
in the config file so it will get the mp3s from my computer?
Or something like that.
I've got several gigs worth of stuff to stream so uploading it all at cd quality will take more space than I'm allowed.
Thanks

Do you want ondemand or "live" content?

kelman3, you only need winamp and the DJ plugin to play music through shoutcast. You don't need to upload them because Shoutcast uploads it from your computer at the specified bitrate. But if you want CD quality then you're ging to need an extremely fast upload connection :P.

I want live content.
Basically I'm trying to use my website provider's bandwith so I can support hundreds of users instead of 2 i can currently support now on my bandwidth.
Basically, like another internet connection I can connect to from my computer that would be dedicated to the station.
Here's what they sent me when I asked them for shell access:
"Unfortunately we cannot give out any ssh access outside of the Enterprise
Plan, because of the shared environment.
We are streaming media compatible. We support progressive, which means that
you upload the files to your account and link to them.
With some file extensions you will need to add a MIME type through c-Panel.
I hope this information is helpful."
I'm with lunarpages and the Enterprise Plan is their premium hosting service.
CPanel is they're "site builder" interface.
I think they're saying I can't stream my station off my computer since I'd have to upload all the files.
But that wouldn't be live content and they say they do support streaming.
Can anybody explain this to me.
Thanks

Sounds like they support ondeamd content.
Check out the SHOUTcast Technical Support Sticky post titled:
SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME!
Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled:
How to Setup On-Demand with SHOUTcast -> Sawg's Lame Rip-Off: On Demand Audio
How to Setup On-Demand with SHOUTcast -> On Demand Audio (Radio Toolbox)
Follow the ondeamnd with a webserver section(s).

yep they wont let you run shoutcast and/or live streaming. just like 99% of web hosts out there.
their infrastructure cannot handle the high bandwidth required.

So, if my host can't support live audio streaming, what are my other options?
If I buy some slots from the hosts on RadioToolbox, how long do those last?
Would it be $3.50 for a 128kbps for a month or a day?
Basically what's the cheapest way for me to get dedicated hosting?
Thanks
