That has to do with the server or box your SHOUTcast Server is hosted or running on, their box is not setup properly or is not finding the DNS server they have that box resolving with.

so its my computer?

if it is then insted of messing around with it should i use another computer as the server?

Joshcoombs

is your shoutcast box hosted or is it your own?

If its hosted you might as well forget about doing it and contatc the company who host the dnas for you.

If not i dont righty know

Ime not very expierienced in this field lol.

Are you able to ping www.yahoo.com from the DNAS machine.

radiofrogmore
2nd May 2004, 17:05
ping?

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 17:07
Open a command prompt and type "ping www.yahoo.com" (sans quotes).

***********

Check out the DNASs sc_serv.ini/conf configuration file:

code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Distributed Network Audio Server--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

radiofrogmore
2nd May 2004, 17:09

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 17:12
1) Are you behind a firewall?
2) Do you have a router?
3) Do you have windows xp?

radiofrogmore
2nd May 2004, 17:13
ok i got xp home
and i got a firewall which i have port 8000 open which is the one im using for winamp

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 17:18
Right ok!

You need to open port 8001 and forward to your machine ip or sometimes called internal server ip which can be found by

1) Click on start
2) Click on run
3) And enter: WINIPCFG
4) choose your lan card/ethernet device and look where it says ip address thats the address you forward the port to. eg mine is: 10.0.0.4

All the router does is assign an ip to each computer on the network :)

That was half your problem anyway because the server uses portbase +1 (8000) as well 8001

Joshcoombs

Ok you also need to Disable your XP Firewall (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?postid=1131209#post1131209).

Take your time to look at this address for info updates:

http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin

also:

Try setting the DNASs YPort to 666.
Check out the DNASs sc_serv.ini/conf configuration file for the section (default shown below):

code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------; Yport, port to connect to yp.shoutcast.com on. For people behind caching
; webproxies, change this to the alternate port (666 is what it might be,
; check www.shoutcast.com if you have problems). Otherwise, leave this at 80.
; We're actively working on re-opening port 666, but as of release the only
; working port is port 80.
Yport=80--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please verify you have done all this:

1) Disabled your xp firewall.
2) Configred your router.
3) Changed ports on the dnas config
4) Checked the address given for info updates

portBase+1 needs to be opened/forwarded to the DNAS machine if and only if folks outside the lan are going to source the DNAS.

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 17:33
Thanks fester i always forget that :)
I will remember now,

I hope we helped you.

Make sure you can ping www.yahoo.com

and if your not on aol do the yp.shoutcast.com ping 1

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 18:01
Right this could be because of coupls of problems:

1) Is your volume turned up on winamp (above equalliser)
2) Check to see if your sound controls are turned up and are not muted (at the bottom of the screen)
3) go to your sound controls click on properties ---> click on porthole selection labled (recording) and ok it and make sure stereo mix/play control is ticked or whatever your system volume labled is.

hope that helps :)

radiofrogmore
2nd May 2004, 18:06
thanx i will c if its worked now

radiofrogmore
2nd May 2004, 18:10
nope.

still a silent stream.

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 18:12
1) Is the sound being registered in the vB bars in the DSP?

2) Are you in soundcard mode or winamp mode under in dsp menu?

3) Are your souncard drivers ok? and installed correctly?

4) Were you in the computers sound volume control panel or the soundcards (supplied with drivers?)

radiofrogmore
2nd May 2004, 18:15
on winamp its being registered and i dont think the dsp is registering it, and im using my soundcard mode

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 18:17

Also this may help:

Try setting the DNASs YPort to 666.
Check out the DNASs sc_serv.ini/conf configuration file for the section (default shown below):

code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------; Yport, port to connect to yp.shoutcast.com on. For people behind caching

; We're actively working on re-opening port 666, but as of release the only
; working port is port 80.

Makes sure you saved it :)

<05/02/04@20:24:30> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)

<05/02/04@20:24:30> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 62.252.0.7:8000) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection refused))

Joshcoombs
2nd May 2004, 19:27
1) Fixing "yp gave error()" (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=70402)

2)

Two (or less) easy steps:
1. If you have a firewall, open the necessary port(s).
2. If you have a router, configure it to forward the necessary port(s) to the DNAS machine.

Check out the Sticky post titled:
SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME!

Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled:
DNAS Stuff -> Errors -> Fixing [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out)

Are the necessary ports open in your firewall and are they being forwarded to the DNAS machine?

Check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and see if the reported information there helps.
