And with the ending of Friends the 90's may finally be buried.

the last episode was hella shitty. im glad its over with. laugh tracks and dramas do not mix.

It was pretty predictable and boring. Not one of the best finals I've ever seen. Of course I didn't get to see the first half of it, oh well.
Yeahhh! the 90s are over!

I haven't watched friends for probably 2 seasons. Missed the final episode because I was watching Cops

The should have had something interesting happen like someone dies or like all the guests stars make unexplained cameos.

Never watched it, and thank god I never watched any Friends episodes...
Even when I try, it's just not funny...

then why are you commenting? this is to ask what you thought of the finale.. and since you didnt watch it, you cant possibly have an opinion.. and how can you never watch friends, and yet know its not funny? if you 'tried' then you watched it...

I listen in... :p
Didn't see it, never watched the show in my life. But I did see the Saturday Night Live version, which was good.

Because we're allowed to.
I have never seen the show, simply because it was so stupid and rediculous it's first season. Make like Jon Stewart said: "Now all you FRIENDS fans can go out and make real friends on your own. You know, like, people."

the first season did suck, but most shows first season sucked, and just because you watch a 30 minute show every week doesnt mean you dont have real friends... besides, the point of this thread was to discuss the finale.. and if you didnt watch the series or the finale, then you cant have an opinion on how it was
and like i said.. if you "have never seen the show" how did you know the first season was so stupid and ridiculous?
i hate these people who say 'i take pride in the fact that i have never seen an episode, because that show is stupid!' because its impossible to know if the show is stupid without watching at least one episode -_-

i thought the finale was ok. it wasn't great or anything. i thought it was better than seinfeld's finale.

Who are you to police the thread and make sure people agree with you or not? I never watched an entire show, and yeah, I'm proud I was doing things like going out and trying to form some kind of life instead of watching a show who previews sucked constantly. If a show doesn't look good, I won't watch it. And the last FRIENDS episode was no M*A*S*H, I'll tell you that much. Why? Because FRIENDS is pretentious bullshit, where M*A*S*H* actually had interesting plot turns throughout it's entire span, not just it's last season. It combined the Drama Aspect with the Comedic Aspect and shits all over FRIENDS, Seinfeld, and the Other Final Episodes that are watched by way too many people.
You want to watch a good comedy/drama show, go watch something that wasn't made in the last decade. There you might find some decent writers that try harder than simply coming up with ideas while masturbating to midget porn.

i dont police the boards, nor do i mind people disliking/hating friends who have actually SEEN the show, and then can form an acutal opinion, but i think you are an idiot for saying the finale sucks because you didnt like the previews for the series, but at least you gave it a chance, you know its pretentious bullshit because you saw the 30 second clip of a few episodes
oh, and how am i so sure that m*a*s*h* is so good? maybe its previews are just great? oh wait, i have seen m*a*s*h* of course mash's writers tried harder, thats why they made a show for the sole purpose of ripping off a movie and running its idea into the ground... come on, mash lasted longer than the korean war!
and i still dont think spending 30 minutes a week watching a sitcom means you have no life.. which watching every episode from every old show (or every old show that you considered good) would...

Considering it never topped the ratings Seinfeld had done previously and Seinfeld was about....well, nothing - what does that say about a show that was about something?
And what did it do for me? Nothing. Ironic, huh?

Read. Nobody seemed to like it. I know the concept, I've read about the fucking show, I've met people obsessed with it. I've had people idiotically tell me an entire episode as if I gave a shit to relate some sort of story while I was thinking about taking thier eyes out with hot pokers. I know FRIENDS pretty good, I could never sit through an entire episode.

You seem to have never seen a late-season M*A*S*H* show. They were still good. Because the people who wrote it didn't sniff glue when they were teenagers. They didn't rip off the movie, the writing for the show is fourty times better than the movie. The movie is a classic, a great film, but is uncomparable to the series. The series was phenominal compared to this FRIENDS tripe.
M*A*S*H* actually tried to entertain thinking people, instead of the mindless drones who watch two or three hours of prime time a night.
and i still dont think spending 30 minutes a week watching a sitcom means you have no life.. which watching every episode from every old show (or every old show that you considered good) would...
I watch roughly five hours of TV a week, absolute tops. It's probably closer to 2 or 3. Why? I have a job, I have friends, I can entertain myself without turning on the *instant entertainment*. I hate Television, simply because it creates people who mindlessly watch mindless shows and bullshit about them when they finalise and how they were so great. Television was great when it entertained a bit, educated a lot through entertainment, and wasn't all out to sell you something every five fucking minutes.
Kill Television.

im not saying i liked the finale, i have only seen one that i did (i liked the cheers finale, it was the only one that didnt become overly cheesy and sympathetic, and didnt use a really crappy gimmick)
but im saying that you saying friends is a horrible show because you saw the commerical and a few people you met tell you about it is stupid... i think its weird that you 'have a life' and yet you spend all your time listening to people recite episodes from sticoms (as if sitcom jokes are ever funny when repeated in normal conversation), but thats no reason to say a show is stupid without even watching it, what if it had the smartest writing ever, you wouldnt even know because you are too stupid to give it a chance...
and no, i stopped watching mash when it got boring and repetitive (anybody who watched past the point where it outran the war is an idiot), besides, most television 'back then' wasnt great, it was horrible.. and if you look back, it only seems great, because no one remembers the crap, oh im sorry... people still remember mash, dont they

Sorry, when did I say I hang with people who quote sitcoms? I'm not stupid because I hate your show, if you read my posts you'd have a clearer idea what I'm talking about.

This is idiotic. There was no defining point when it ran over the actual war, and the whole point was to blur the edges of what war it was, simply because it had so many powerful statements against war as a whole, in particular Vietnam which was going on at that time. Read a fucking book.

Yes, All in the Family, Sanford and Son, M*A*S*H* only inspired the people that created the shit you watch daily. These shows broke so many boundaries in television you have to be a moron to not understand it..oh! whoops. I guess I just called you a moron.

for them to tell you an entire episode, you would have to stay around them for a while
and you arent stupid for not liking my show, you are stupid (and closed minded) for saying a show has terrible writing and is stupid because you have seen the commercial, and a few people have told you about it

the point was to make money, that was always the point of a sitcom, that will always be the point of a sitcom, get over yourself
all in the family = good though it has significantly dated in the years
sanford and son = crap
threes company = crap
gilligans island = crap
and those are just a few of the extremely crappy shows that have reruns (i could probably think of more) but think about the crappy shows that got cancelled quickly (after a year or two) that no one remembers

Just because they told me an entire episode doesn't mean that I hang out with them.

Closed minded I'll take, stupid I won't, simply because I'm not. So there.

All television is not about making money. Modern television is shit.

Sanford and son was a good show. You just have to get your head out of your ass to enjoy it. Gilligan's island was funny in a stupid way, but I agree with the three's company vote, it blew.
and those are just a few of the extremely crappy shows that have reruns (i could probably think of more) but think about the crappy shows that got cancelled quickly (after a year or two) that no one remembers
And yet somehow a show like FRIENDS or Buffy the Vampire Slayer are total shit and last forever.
