I would have to agree...It seems like everyone is posting tons of little bugs and if I were designing this skin that would be very confusing. It would be much more effecient for everyone if you would consolidate your posts.

still does a flickering thing when i use my keyboard's multimedia keys, like "next" or "stop", when i'm in winamp. other than the flickering thing, i haven't found anything yet.

Good work with the resizable playlist.

A couple of issues with it: It needs an arrow when you hover over it. Also it looks bad as you drag it. Like it flickers alot. That goes with all the bits you can drag too...

Ok, I don't know how many of these bugs you already know of:

1.) Very weird problems with video window. I run this skin with the video/visualization window attached and open, but when I try and play a video, the file loads and I hear audio, but no video window. (The visualization keeps going) I try and bring up the video window from the View drop-down window, but it doesn't do anything.

2.) You can only use the "Jump to file Extra" plug-in (Hit 'q' to enque a song) on the playlist if you click the arrow to close the video/visualization window.

The playlist can only be resized horizontally, not vertically. It would be cool if this was possible (I'm using in_tv to watch TV, and having a "larger" video panel while being able to access everything else in the ML would ROCK). And perhaps you can add a resize cursor to the dividers.

Two things:
1) Can someone please explain to me how I can get my visualizations into the video slot when a movie is not playing? Is it suppossed to happen automatically ... cause its not happening for me :confused:

2) A Request to iPlayTheSpoons. Would it be possible to have a lil button somewhere that can switch the left hand side between the ML and the DL? I mean, if the button is clicked and the GL exists, switch to that! You see, the DL has now become quite an integeral part of most Winamp users lives that it would be nice to have that embedded rather than the ML, but for those who want the choice, the button!

/Edit// Allrise, if you would like to have the currently playing song highlighted in the Playlist (yeah, not in ML as requested), you could use DrO's "Playlist File Remover" (http://www.nunzioweb.com/daz/beta/gen_play_remove.dll). This removes the file from the playlist upon completion of the song and thereby you get the song playing on the top of the list. Check the "Add File to bottom of Playlist" and the file removed is added back and thereby the playlist itself is retained!

2) I see that Opacity has been disabled. Why is that? Any reason this has been disabled? Wanted to use the fade in/ out on hover thing, but get to set the opacity.

Clipping bug.
Steps to reproduce:
Resize the playlist to a wide size, wider than the narrowest size the skin will go.
Resize entire window to smallest it will go.

Result:
Clipped playlist

Expected result:
Playlist will resize itself down when it takes up the whole window.

Related suggestion:
Seperate "PL width" varibles for the default and maxamized modes.

With all that blank space after the track title, it needs something more. You should include the beat vis, which on the Modern skin is visible if you stretch the window wide enough. Add to that the secret of the headbanging llamas (hold ctrl+alt+shift and click middle pixel), and it'd be awesome.

How about making SingleGUI support docking of e.g. NxS Thinger so it fits nicely with the SingleGUI design. Now it's just a floating window and I don't want that. Maybe I will make some code that uses the Vis API to dock the Thinger window. The Thinger will appear in the vis area then, but maybe I will wrap the icons so they are not just all on one line.

What do you think??

yeah, i myself am still trying to figure out how the hell to get around that little problem...you can turn off the option to resize the video window to fit video in the prefrences, but thats not really a solution from the gui stand point. well, if anyone has a good idea for how, im all ears.

This is by far the best skin/mod for winamp 5 i've come across.

Having just left iTunes behind (and new to Winamp), I was frustrated with the way the media library runs separately from the play controls - but now the problem is solved.

Now if only someone would make a more usable skin for us users with high res screens, cos some of the buttons and scroll bars are too small @ 1600x1200.

A BUG I FOUND:

When watching a video in "full" mode, double-click the titlebar to switch to winshade mode. Drag the video window to dock on the bottom of the player 'stick.' Double-click again to get back out of winshade mode, so the main window recaptures the video. Then double-click once more to switch back to winshade.

The video window seems to snap to the bottom of the FULL-SIZE window, I.E. where the bottom USED to be. I would guess it would be better for it to snap to the winshade player.

Ok the fix is to get Milkdrop 1.04b, and it comes with the newer WA5. But how do I get the visualization window bigger?

@Axsuul: So nice of you to anwer your own questions and bloat this thread. I think it is large enough as it is (spans 9 pages now).

You can click the rightmost button under the vis panel to make the visualization fill the Media Library area instead. This hides the ML ofcourse but you wont be using the ML when you watch the vis do you? And the PL area will span the window's full height.

That's a very dangerous thing to say, i know, i've been there :D.
The project is NOT dead, it's just living it's life at it's own speed :p
If you want to have this skin, completely finished, using it without any bugs, you better practice a lot of patience and don't pis off the author whining for new beta releases, he's doing all he can.

(long time i didn't post here and just folowed the development of singlegui in the background, coz my posts at a certain point weren't apreciated anymore :( , but bringing this 'developement speed' thing up again i feel like warning others; You might end up called some names, and having the thread closed ! ;) )

as ive said before, this project is not dead. but, i am the only one who works on it (as i have also said before, all of the source has always been available for anyone to help), and have a life outside of the free programs i write to support a player that- though i love - isnt even being developed to the point to truly support the idea of a singlegui (like all of you who've noticed problems with keyboard shortcuts...thats a core problem, and wont go away)

I would like this skin to work like the single ui The Author is Metalkid from Deviantart, He would like to make this skin and I think that the only way to do it is with your config like this one has. I have been talking to Metalkid and he basically wants it to stay the same he doesnt have alot of time with more graphics and I would have to make em. rpc & plague already said it is possible but it will have errors. one thing i'd really appreciate someone doing is working on the configuration window, which i really havnt had time for...its seperate from the main window (which was coded so its hard for an outsider to work with...not my shinning moment there), and just needs some minor work, like removing options from that screen that no longer apply, like the drawers and misc sections, as well as isolating why it gives that damn guru error. the code for that is up to date in the most recent beta, and if someone was willing to work on that, itd be great.

no, i just added some system options (Enable tooltips, docking, desktop alpha and always on top) i needed to do that cuz i removed all options that are useless now and i had to fill a hole ;) with something.
now i'm adding some options to notifier (position, animation)

Try the font called 'Small Fonts'. It seems fairly similar, except it isnt anti-aliased.

Its not a true type font, so it might not appear in the font list if u've told windows to only show truetype fonts.

The font thing is a little bit difficult.
As you can see the font is a little bit antialiased at the corners.
This is just possible if you you do this manually. I don't know a
TrueType-font which looks great at these little dimensions.

Except for a bitmapfont. So I created a little tool in good old HTML.
With this you can write the text you need.
Then make a screenshot. Then you can make a alpha mask for the text in
the screenshot.
And "voila" you have a little antialiased text to work with...

Well, i figured its been long enough and we deserved a new beta in our lives. Were getting closer to a really good final looking product, but there are still some bugs...heres a brief changelog:

-redid options menu/screen to reflect what the SingluGUI needed
-fixed buggy EQ/Config window
-fixed fullscreen bug for some screen settings
-added new options to Notifier
-added new options for songticker (experimental!)
-added tab press to change between EQ window tabs
-fixed option to hide menu bar in main player
-added resizability to height of Video/Vis pane
-added cursors for draggable areas (for resizing)
-added button on playlist/library divider bar
-internal improvements to screen control code
-fixed some video-resizing problems

known bugs:

-video playback still causes main player to resize in a bad way...core problem, still working on work arounds
-shortcut keys still wierd...again, core problem
-components seem a bit funked in shade mode...working on it
-oops, just remembered...fullscreen mode doesnt behave exactly like any other window...easy, will be done soon


well, that should keep you guys busy for a little while, until you break it again :rolleyes:

it happens evertime i load skin, if i turn off winamp and reload winamp in singlegui, i still get it.
if i uncheck media library under view menu, and recheck it, it is still broke, yet somewhat better because the left column is there. it still not resizable, and it still cuts off the first part of the id3 column.

- new icon for playlist resizing looks strange in Win98, right in WinXP
- Everytime i resizing the skin, restart winamp and the skin restart without the previous settings.... annoying for me
- start a video-file and the video window resizing VERY BIG
- some buttons on video window doesn't work... (1x and 2x increase/decrease the main window and not the video window)

I've got a problem with the skin's playlist editor.

It doesn't seem to be 'focused' properly.

Here's my steps to re-produce the problem

start winamp
do a search on the media library (or just click on random item from the media librar).
enqueue any items (preferably a long enough list, makes it easier for the next step)
then click any item from the playlist (just to 'focus' the playlist), scroll... see if it'll scroll the playlist or it'll scroll the media library. (or press delete even, it'll ask to delete from media library instead of playlist window)

well, it's really random (the steps to reproduce it that is), but there is NO way I can get the playlist window focused unless I right click an item, and then delete an item straight from the playlist. then that can be focused afterwards.

If you have a folder named SingleGUI, it makes me think that you have extracted it... Don't do that.

Simply place the .wal file in your Winamp\skins folder and double-click it.

I am running WinAmp 5.092. SingleGUI-10007.wal saves you're window size when you exit so that opening WinAmp the second time the Window opens up as you left it. SingleGUI-10008.wal defaults back to some smallish window that I have to resize every time I run WinAmp.

I appologize in advance if this is already known. Is there a better place for me to report bugs or review existing bug reports?

I have also been coding for the last 15 yrs and would like to help if needed. I don't have any experience with skinning and doubt very much that I have the artistic ability but I can code if that would be of help.

Great job IPlayTheSpoons on this skin!!! I almost wish it would become the default for the next release of WinAmp. A separate button to switch between "video" and "vizualiser" mode for the video window would be a great help. I finally discovered that you can right-click on the button to switch but it's not clear from just looking at it.

yeah. this is a bug thats been around all along, but theres a reason it hasnt been fixed. it cant. when i initially started working on the skin, steve told me hed have the dev team fix the internal code that handled focus so singleGUI would work right. well, it was long after that when there was no more dev team to speak of. if this is ever fixed, it will be by an update to the freeform plugin, not something i have control over.

anyways, as always, progress is being made. sorry about size remembering problems. i integrated krckoorascic's code and missed a little something. well, its coming along.

Hey all.

Its been a while since 10008 was released, and i still had the annoying bug that causes it not to remember its size when winamp reopens. I tried to find the cause of this but I wasnt successful, so I threw together a nasty hack that fixed it.

All it does is attempt to resize the window every 50ms if it isnt set to the correct size. if it is the correct size, it stops checking.

Heres the code i changed in screen.m...
add a new declaration:
Global Timer resizeCallback;

add to the end of the System.onScriptLoaded() function:
resizeCallback = new Timer;
resizeCallback.setDelay(50);
resizeCallback.start();

add a new function below the System.onScriptLoaded() function (or anywhere if you are feeling daring):
resizeCallback.onTimer()

Normal.resize(mX, mY, mW, mH);
}

a compiled .maki file is attached. download a version of singlegui10008.wal, rename it to .zip and extract the zip to winamp's skins folder. then copy the .maki file into the scripts folder

removing the 1x, 2x etc buttons wont do any good, those options are still available upon right-clicking on the video window.

combining single ui with default winamp skin is a good idea. but if you can make the all components attach and detach (and not just the avs and video) into the default skin, then you have the single UI and default skin in one, like this. (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=225008)
although i wont think iplay would like to use method i used in that skin but the idea is there. :)

I can have a go at changing a few things, but i've never made any kind of skin before. All of this XML, layout, component, group stuff seems far too complicated. Fortunately, I shouldnt need to touch any of that, and just save/load the appropriate variables.

can anyone suggest which bit of maki script/XML causes the whole thing to resize when you change the video to 1/2x, 1x or 2x? nothing jumped out at me. I had a look at this skin:

the reason that skin doesnt resize the video is that the main player is not resizable. to make SingleUI's video not to resize can be done by removing relatw="1" and relath="1" on the windowholder for the video and resize the video holder with the proper width and height directly by MAKI.

unless issues with wndholder object gets resolved i wont be switching to that method. although wnholder is the "proper" way of doing this kind of interface especially with attachable/detachable components. :)

yes i did get the DUI idea from SUI and also from the default modern skin. SUI attaches all the components but the default skin allows for attaching and detaching. ;)

this is actually how it was before i rewrote the script the first time, but left it out in the rewrite because they options were still there, and wanted to figure out a way around that. infact, thats a big issue remaining in the GUIs actual usability


oh, and as for allowing the detatching of all windows. i never really planned on it, though the usability is largly built in to allow for the stick mode, but since this skin shares so much in design to the original, it seemed silly to repeat the same exact skin just to say you could

About the Idea of having a DL/ML switch implemented, it would be cool but a lot of work, and the DL author is considering a version of his plugin that is a ML plugin, so that would work just fine.

I just downloaded Nullsoft_Media_Player_10 and WoW !! This is how to do a single window skin for WinAmp5. At this point it might make more sense to port the WinAmp5 artwork to Nullsoft_Media_Player_10. This would give the look of the WinAmp5 skin with the functionality of this new skin. Congrats to Pieter Nieuwoudt on an excellent skin.

bump. anything new on this front? i really liked that this one uses the WA Modern skin as a base, not *vomit* WiMP. (Don't get me wrong, Pieter's done some genius work. I just prefer my Winamp-y look.) :)

i'm really hoping that development continues on this, especially since all the gen_ff fixes in 5.2 should resolve some nagging issues.

I've alreay written this off as a dead project. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but iPlay hasn't posted anything here in quite awhile so I really don't expect anything else to be done. Then again, he could be so busy working on single-ui that he doesn't have the time to make a post. not likely

i checked actually, he made a post (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1869863#post1869863) on the 19th of this month. it was in reply to a post about the gen_ff issues being fixed in the (then) beta of 5.2 .. he didn't say much but he seemed pretty excited, so i'm hopeful.
hopefully we can get a reply from the horses mouth sometime soon.

Ive been working on it when possible, and the new bug fixes to gen_ff are great. Im still waiting for bensky to get back to me in regards to the post osmosis was talking about, and thats the other piece to the winamp puzzle i need to move foward with this interminable thing

focus issue for the playlist is fixed in 5.2 final. The video window focus issue is mostly fixed, but will be completely fixed in 5.21. Are there any other components have focus problems?

well, what ive already tried was using a combination on isVideo() getIdealVideoWidth() and getIdealVideoHeigth()... but it just does not work how one would want it to.

my idea is if there's a onVideoResize function then at the end of function return TRUE to allow winamp to resize or return FALSE to make the video size steady. something like that. :) well, its up to benski.

Is there a fix yet for the window size bug? I see it mentioned several times in this thread a while ago, but could not tell if there was a way to fix it. The latest version still does it?

BTW - I did try the Nullsoft Media Player 10 and could use that except that it has a very limited color selection. :eek: I do use the "City Nights" color theme in the Modern Skins and could use that if it was in NMP10.

I'm attracted to this SUI for the same reason. I prefer my Winamp Modern Skin look to most other skins I've seen out there (and especially dislike that WiMP-y look, though Pieter's done some amazing work). Same here on the City Night, too, SUI looks sweet with it as well.

Hopefully there'll be a new beta sometime soon.

I asked this a few posts up, but did not see a direct answer. Is there a fix or work around for this? I was told yes a while back, but can not find a work around detailed anywhere. The latest version here still has this bug.

you know, ive been digging around in this god damned code for months trying to figure out why it had that resize problem, and im happy to finally announce ive figured out what the porblem is. im even happier to announce its krckoorascic fault! ;) when he integrated the skin options from the equalizer, he inadvertently turned on the option to link main and shade widths...and its inherets the size from the shade mode... as a temporary "fix":

DOUBLE CLICK THE TITLE BAR TO GO INTO SHADE MODE, RESIZE THE SHADE MODE TO DESIRED WIDTH, THEN DOUBLE CLICK AGAIN

sprry this took so long to figure out, but i tore through all every damn line of mai before i got less dumb. i will pm krckoorascic about this and get it in hreal working order as soon as possible.

be patient please :) i've just did some scratches of main script... it will be called Winamp 2 SUI :) (you guess, it'll have gfx from good ol' winamp 2 :p) but it's faaaaaaar away from first beta cuz i have some jobs running in the moment (but i'll do my part on wa5sui :p as soon as i get instructions from iplay)
