Hello all! New broadcaster here.

I want to set up a small time radio and need some advice on the following:

a) Recommended setup. I have this board: http://www.phonic.com/images/products/mixer/mm1002a_2.jpg and I'm thinking of getting this microphone: http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1663&brandID=2. I'm still trying to figure out a good sound card for this. Can anyone recommend something? Any comments on the above products?

b) I'm using SAM2 to broadcast to my audiorealm account. However, when I plug in the board and try to run things from the board the encoder distorts even though it doesn't sound distorted on my monitors. Does anyone know what's up?

c) How can I play phone calls on the air? Is there a special telephone that I could plug in the board or whats the deal?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Daiver

AAs for #1, I dont know.

As for #2, what bitrate areyou streaming at? 24k-56k sounds quite a bit distorted. If you wish to take out some of the muffled sound, just broadcast in mono.

#3, search the forums for this.

I'm streaming at 64k and using the MP3PRO encoder. Does this influence the distortion issue?

I am interested in contacting you but I don't have AIM. Do you have MSN or Skype?

I didn't quite understand your comment on compression.
