I heard a rumor that the new Beastie Boys CD was going to have copy-protection and what-not so one could not rip it and "violate" copyright law. Anybody buy To the Five Boroughs yet? And if so, can you rip it with your application of choice? Or, if there is a DRM, is it the crappy kind that can be disabled by pressing the Shift key? I was considering buying it, but I mostly listen to music that has been ripped to my HD, so an unrippable CD is of little use to me. Thanks for any information you can provide.

It's not on these lists:
http://ukcdr.org/issues/cd/bad/
http://www.fatchuck.com/z3.html

Doesn't mean it isn't protected but they are quite a good reference and give links to other sites with similar lists.

My searching seems to indicate that it's copy-protected everywhere but the US and the UK. Strange.

I'm gonna buy it today anyways, so I'll report back later. If it's copy protected (and I can't crack it) I'll need to return it, as I don't have a CD player.
