afair is LZMA a product of 7zip ??

LZMA is a high performance compression algorithm that generally compresses substantially tighter than any other of the algorithms listed here. Since its use is governed by the LGPL license, it hasn't yet been determined whether or not compressed modules require special adherence to be legal. Please read the LGPL license and/or contact the LZMA author (www.7-zip.org) to determine legality.

NSIS supports the LZMA compression algorithm, which is created by the author of 7-zip.

The 7z file format is not used by NSIS.

i was thinking of something like ZipDLL for 7z archives, or even two DLLs, one for compression and one for extraction. well, at least i got me a C++ book from the library, now i should read myself into this :)
